At Hawker, Chef's Jeff Merkel and Leah Steduto spotlight their naturalistic worldview with beautifully composed plant-based small plates, cocktails, and a thoughtfully curated list of vegan wines.

Located in Kensington Market, the cozy dining space features an earthy, palette of dark wood and moss. A picturesque, romantic back patio is naturally decorated with ivy. A front patio lets you enjoy the lively sights and sounds of the market.

All reservations have a 15 minute grace period. Please call us if you are arriving later than 15 minutes. Your table will be reserved for 1 hour 45 minutes for parties of 1-2; 2 hours for parties of 3-6; 2 hours 30 minutes for parties of 7 or more. If arriving late, we may not be able to extend your seating time if there are reservations scheduled after your allotted timeframe.

This is the place I take all my vegan and non-vegan friends and family when they visit the city. The tasting menu with wine pairing is an awesome price for the quality and thoughtfulness of everything Hawker offers, I’ve never had someone not say it was at least in the top 5 best meals they’d ever had! The cocktails are also wonderful across the board

I had a wonderful time at Hawker! The food was quite tasty, simple but flavourful and I loved the play on sounds Asian food they did. Although not really south Asian food (especially with spice level and the spices combinations) it was still super enjoyable.

We tried the tasting menu for my husband's birthday and loved every bite, flavor, and presentation. Lion's mane mushroom dish was fantastic! Our servers were courteous and friendly, and both the cocktails and mocktails were delicious. It was a wonderful evening that exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

I’m almost apologetic as I wrote this as all other reviews seem to be glowing. We ate at Hawker last night and were disappointed. We had high expectations based on the Google reviews and the score (4.8/5) but the food didn’t quite measure up. The oyster mushroom dish was very good but then our next two dishes weren’t great. For $100 including tip we got three small plates and a glass of wine each. Pricey and not filling. Everything works well on paper but didn’t quite deliver on the taste and flavour we were expecting. Wont return sadly. Really wanted to like it!!!

Highly recommend. A group of us went for dinner so we ordered all the plates on the menu. Each dish was delicious, beautifully presented and described in just enough detail by the servers. While each of us had a few favourites, all of us thoroughly enjoyed every single dish. The service was attentive and generous. It felt that they were happy to tell us about the dishes and that we were in a friends' kitchen. This is a place that demonstrates care and creativity in each plate, a magical spot for anyone (plant forward or not) who loves good food.

Excellent elevated cuisine in a laid back environment. Enjoyable for omnivorous as well as plant-based diets. Fully plant-based restaurant, which is fantastic. Service was fantastic.

I really loved the food here. Delicious vegetable first plant based food. Some of the best oyster mushorooms I’ve had. Even the garnish added to the experience of the dishes we had where it feels totally redundant in most places.
