Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant is the second restaurant from fine dining chef Curtis Stone (of Maude) and the first he’s opened with his brother Luke Stone. Gwen is both a European-style, chef-driven butcher shop and a restaurant that is redefining dining in LA, with a menu that calls on fire-based cooking techniques. Whether you’re picking up house-made charcuterie, prime and rare breed meats from the retail store, enjoying a feast in the dining room or relaxing with a bite and cocktail at the bar, Gwen delivers the highest standards of quality, taste and service.

On Wednesdays-Sundays, we offer Chef's Carte Blanche 5-course tasting menu for $130 per person (limited quantities available). The whole party must enjoy the tasting menu and wine pairings are available for $75 per person. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the restaurant at 323-946-7500.

    MICHELIN 1 Star

    2023

From the OpenTable editors: Part high-end butcher shop, part steakhouse, Gwen is the brainchild of Curtis Stone and his brother Luke Stone. The MICHELIN-Starred experience is a celebration of all things meat: The dramatic dining room is surrounded by glass-enclosed dry-age rooms and a central fire pit. Expect housemade charcuterie, pasta with bacon Bolognese, and impressive steaks like a 30-day aged Creekstone Farm ribeye.

The food is beyond expectations. My son loved the water menu and husband was fascinated with the Wine menu. We will definitely come back.

We went on a Sunday around Christmas time and late in the evening…so the service was expectably a little lackluster. It was our anniversary so we wanted to go anyways. Got the “B” team but that’s ok and expected. The water selection and steak knife selection was cool and different. The charcuteries and beef tartare were absolutely spectacular. However; the meal itself was, on the other hand, completely terrible. The 30 day dry aged rib eye was unseasoned and tasted terrible…plus the marbling was inconsistent and awful. I make better steaks at home with choice beef from a mediocre grocery store. Also, the duck fat potatoes were very dry and inedible. All in all-cool ambiance but the food was awful and not worth our time or money. The best part was the wine I brought and using the corkage fee. Terrible choice for our anniversary and we will not be returning or recommending ever.

From arriving at the valet to collecting our leftovers at the hostess stand, the experience was exceptional! The attention to detail shown by the employees throughout was impeccable. Our server was outstanding! He was attentive and intentional, immensely kind and went above and beyond to make my wife’s birthday memorable. She is an aspiring chef in culinary school and has been following chef Curtis Stone’s career for over 18 years so the decadent meal and wonderful service truly added to the amazing evening. Thank you for a beautiful experience!

Fabulous and fun steakhouse experience. Loved every dish we had, the lobster sopresine was so good we’re still thinking about it the next day. Perfect for a fun and elevated date night.

Everything was wonderful. They treated us so well for our anniversary dinner. The only negative comment is that the food tasted a little too salty for our taste.

Nick is arguably the BEST server in LA! He is so knowledgeable and honest and fun without being at all intrusive. The front desk staff are also excellent. They rush to open the door for us and greet us with big smiles. We aren't huge regulars, but they make us feel like we are. We're never rushed from our table (but we don't linger endlessly on a busy night). Compliments to the bus team as well for their attentiveness. Overall, one of the best restaurants in LA, and not a big bold presence on this quiet corner on Sunset. You will never be disappointed. (And if you are for something you didn't really love, they totally make up for it with extra goodies and tastes at no charge. Thanks to all the Gwen team!
