Steak was cooked as requested, but very resilient. Butcher should be advised. Service excellent.

Food was delicious, really hot and lots of it. Not long to wait and service was really good, lovely girl. Checked throughout the meal if all was ok by various staff. Unfortunately our table was next to the door and every time it open it was so draughty and cold; next visit will make sure seated elsewhere. Good value and loads of choice and will definitely return.

The Grouse & Ale is the local pub I wish was near me and not my Dad. Its the place I take him when I visit. Great food and excellent service. Recommend the Beer battered haddock. Save room for desserts

Three of us visited the Grouse and Ale for lunch on Friday 29th.November which we do on a regular basis. The bill was for £127.60 but wrongly dated 15th. November (not a problem). We did not examine the detail of the bill until later at home when we noticed the Fish and Chips priced £16 was listed as a Ribeye steak at £24 and the Smoked Haddock at £18 was listed as Lamb at £22. Consequently we were overcharged by £12 bearing in mind we are quoting the prices shown online. We realise we should have spotted these errors at the time but as you requested a review thought it would be appropriate to mention it. We use the Grouse all the time and enjoy our visits beecause the food and service is consistantly good and the ambiance pleasant.

Came here as a party of 4. Really nice ambience and waiting staff. Food by and large delicious, and very good Rebellion beer. We have been here before, and will certainly visit again.

Lovely meal this afternoon. I couldn’t decide whether to have the roast beef or pork but the waitress suggested the beef is better. She was not wrong, the best roast beef I’ve had in years! All the trimmings were great too. I did have a pudding (sticky toffee) but it didn’t live up to the main course. The portion was huge, not always a bad thing, but there wasn’t enough cream to go with it so it was really rich and I couldn’t finish it all. The wait staff were really friendly though and we really enjoyed our meal. I had been for a roast dinner there a few years back but don’t remember it being as good as it was today

Booked for daughter's birthday supper. Became more challenging when we realised we had to get her back to school within 45minutes. Staff and kitchen rose to challenge admirably and with good humour, delivering top-notch steaks and actually the best triple cooked chips any of us have ever had. Would consider returning just for chips, but that diminishes everything else 0 all really excellent. Thank you!
