   Overall good experience for Christmas dinner. Even though the pub was packed, they managed to seat us quite fast and our food came out quickly but we didn’t feel rushed.

   Mixed views on our meals: two of us had burgers which were OK if a little on the small side. The other had the hot smoked salmon - the salmon was overcooked and dry, the pomme anna potato unrecognisable as it looked and tasted as it had been reheated several times. My partner left most of it. Staff were friendly but service very slow.

   Jardine is an excellent manager and provides personal service. A good range of real ales and moderately priced and tasty food. A good place to meet a friend in lively surroundings.

   We had a Christmas lunch here for 20 in the downstairs private area, the space was comfortable and the staff went the extra mile in ensuring everyone had drinks and food was brought to the correct person. The food was good and priced well for a three course selection. Emma was a great help throughout the organising stage and during the lunch itself, thanks!

    The food was top notch! Our party of 6 were very happy with the food provided and at great value as well, all 6 meals came to £90.15. The service let these good aspects down however. Upon arrival, it wasnt clear whether they offered table service or ordering at the bar. After nobody came over for 40 mins without being checked on, we ordered at the bar. If the staff had made this clear when we arrived, the whole experience would have been really nice. After ordering, the food came out relatively quickly.
