   I love gjelina in Venice. The atmosphere in NY is even better, especially upstairs. So lovely. The service was attentive and helpful. But unfortunately the food was very salty. I had the pasta, and the texture was perfect, but it was overly salted. As I was leaving, I saw someone with a pizza, and I wished I'd done that instead. Next time! And there will definitely be a next time.

   So happy they’re finally open! Fantastic food and a beautiful space. The front room is noisy, and for brunch there were lots of kids which raised the noise level more. Excited for them to get their footing with service and will definitely be back.

   Chef Jake and team have a large and incredible menu of everything from fresh vegetables to spare ribs. The cabbage, carrots, and escarole and sunchoke salad were incredible. The space is beautiful - sitting at the bar is fun with the open kitchen. The service was also great. 10/10

   Gjelina was good - I had high hopes, as I hear such good things about the LA location. We were brought upstairs, which is a really nice space, although it was quite warm up there. The salads we ordered were both great — the arugula one with smoked trout, and another I can’t quite recall (the first one on the menu). The fennel was also really good, although the cauliflower was soggy and forgettable. As for the mains, it was again mixed. Lamb stew and chicken — excellent. Really superb. Thought the fish in the beans was not good, and the pappardelle was just ok (too sweet). A main problem was pacing — our dishes were brought out one after another, never giving us a break to breathe. By the time our last main was put on the table, we had barely finished our salads. Finally, the pizza was a major disappointment. Not good. Perhaps that’s just what LA pizza is like. But really, the food generally was quite good, and I expect some kinks when visiting a restaurant so early on. I look forward to returning!

   Gjelina is a neighborhood gem, its return eagerly awaited after a fire forced it to close for a while. Food is delicious, but I have to subtract a star for their charging $5 for one slice of bread. Seems a bit tacky. If you're going to charge, at least serve two slices. If two people order eggs for brunch, it will cost and extra $10 if you each want a slice of bread.

   Food was delicious per usual. But stick to what they do best: pizzas, pastas, and veggies.
