every time we eat at girl and the goat, i fall in love all over again. the food is creative and always delicious. the ambiance feels so cozy and casual, intimate, and like a warm hug. i love that i celebrated my 40th birthday here at the king’s table and then, 10 years later visited for my 50th birthday and tho we sat at a different table, had a repeat visit from the same server - GARY!!! definitely try the steak in citrus dressing, the pork belly in crabmeat sauce, and always the pig face. always always the pig face. and the crumpets in the pate order. my GOSH so good

My husband and I do an annual post-Christmas trip to unwind from the holiDAZE. This year we chose Chicago, and weren't really sure what to do for NYE. We landed at Girl & the Goat and were not disappointed. Absolutely delicious. I don't think you can get in without reservations, so plan ahead. Some locals seemed surprised that we made it in. We chose the 10pm slot so we could ring in 2025 at the restaurant. First impression - SUPER loud. In all fairness, it was NYE and they were slamming food out onto the floor. Loud music, and everyone was pretty saucy and loud by 10pm. We were seated at the funky little kitchen counter. At first, felt slightly annoying to not have a comfortable table - but this gave us two great bonuses. One - we were outside the blaring loud "music cone". So it was a touch quieter. And by touch, I mean a TOUCH. Two - we were seated next to the kitchen where we got to watch all the action. And let me tell you - they were busting their TAILS. Impressive work! About the food. Tonight was a family-style prix fixe menu. A delicious warm brioche to start. Kohlrabi salad was fresh and crunchy. Oysters with ponzu were a delight - little shells jam-packed with flavor. The crispy short ribs were an absolute treat, as were the sautéed green beans. Salmon and shrimp sausage was packed with flavor. Drinks were strong (a plus in my book!). I loved the meringue dessert, my husband didn't agree. I love textures, and the pavlova was full of texture. Service was steady and quick. As mentioned, kitchen guys were fun to watch! Overall a great job. Some dishes shined more than others (going back for crispy short ribs!).

The fixed menu was probably the worst experience I’ve had here. Felt very rushed, was served courses before drink orders. Food was also not as good as normal, as an example the oysters were warm and fishy. Dessert was probably the best dish. Normally love this place

We’ve been here before and have had wonderful meals. The NYE meal was mid - at best. Fire they didn’t publish the menu ahead of time but then had no options. We had someone who didn’t like seafood and they had no real alternatives. Secondly it felt kind of one note. Every dish tasted heavily of citrus and/or vinegar. We have loved girl and the goat and will be back - but the NYE set menu experience wasn’t great. Would recommend having at least a couple of options in the future and/or publishing the menu in advance.

We were sat at the one big table with other party of people which was super uncomfortable. I booked this restaurant a month ago for birthday celebration and had to sit with other people. Plus there was a kitchen right behind us and they were very loud, they were screaming for orders being ready and it was annoying. Food was coming very slow. We order 4 small plates. And they were coming very slow. One by one. We would prefer having them all in the same time or faster
