   Fratellos is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. The food is excellent from appetizers to entrees to desserts. It has some of the best Italian food in Charleston. Their menu runs from gourmet to standard but excellently prepared Italian classics. A decent wine list and great specialty cocktails. The interior decor is sophisticated, yet unpretentious. The noise level can get pretty high when the restaurant is fairly full. Tables and chairs are very close to each other so if you’ve got a loud person or group close to you it can be irritating. There’s not a whole lot of sound absorption in the restaurant. The service is very good. The servers are attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant.

   The server was very nice and attentive. The food was good. I put in my reservation it was my 38th wedding anniversary and no one acknowledged my wife or myself. Every other restaurant I have chosen over the years has acknowledged our day. Just last year Amici’s owner came to our table. Guess I won’t be coming back.

   We had a party of six. We came to celebrate my in-laws 49th anniversary and had Dennise as our server. She was absolutely wonderful, very attentive and on top of refills, which can be challenging because my sons (adult) drink a lot of soda when dining out. She even managed to set down a refill without them noticing at one point! She paced our meal perfectly and knew the dishes well, helping guide decisions. Large entree portions and great flavors. Little noisy, but that was great for us because we can be a little loud ourselves so we didn't feel out of place. Beautiful inside. The hostess was able to ensure we did not have an elevated table due to my in-laws having mobility issues and she did not make me feel embarrassed to ask. Super kind. Will definitely be back and highly recommend for a special meal out.

    I had made reservations for last Saturday. They were not needed. Only one other party was there when we arrived and only one other appeared during our stay. We were at Fratello's for a late lunch and the setup for a street fair outside probably discouraged customers. Our waiter mentioned that they were jammed the previous weekend. So make reservations. I had the calamari as an appetizer. They were fried to perfection. The tentacles were especially appreciated as they are not always served elsewhere. Accompanying the calamari were two separate portions of pickled bell peppers. One was a bit too spicy for my taste, but the other was most delicious. For entree, I had penne alle vongole, not on the menu which included the linguine version and other penne dishes. Large serving with ample clams, both in the shell and added pieces. Pasta with clams in white sauce is a frequent craving. I order it when dining out and fix it myself. Within the broad spectrum of subtle style differences, this did not disappoint. The server was cordial, the service was not rushed. This made for a most pleasant late lunch. I shall return to try something else on the menu.
