Founding Farmers & Distillery - A Must-Visit Gem in D.C. If you’re in Washington, D.C., and looking for a dining experience that hits all the marks, Founding Farmers & Distillery is it. From the moment you step in, the ambience sets the perfect tone—warm, inviting, and effortlessly chic. The food is absolutely phenomenal! Every dish is crafted with care, bursting with fresh flavors that make it clear why this place is a local favorite. Their in-house drinks are next-level—whether you’re into cocktails, spirits, or mocktails, every sip is a testament to their craft. The fact that they distill their own spirits adds an authentic and unforgettable touch. What truly elevated our visit was the service. Christian, our server, was exceptional. Friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive, he went above and beyond to ensure our meal was flawless. His enthusiasm and genuine care made us feel like VIPs. Whether it’s a casual outing, date night, or celebration, Founding Farmers & Distillery offers an unparalleled experience. It’s the kind of place you’ll rave about long after your visit—and start planning your next trip back before you even leave! 10/10 recommend.

We were seated an hour and a half after our pre-paid reservation time. They had sold out of many items on their fixed menu.

We went for Thanksgiving dinner. They were overbooked and we were not seats until an hour after our reservation. Once we sat down it seemed very rushed. Our soup entree had good flavor but was lukewarm. Turkey was dry and tough. Ham and fried chicken were good. The rest of the items on the fixed menu were alright. Nothing was very hot. The desserts were the best part of the meal. It seemed very hectic and not a very enjoyable environment.

We went on Thanksgiving. 45 minute wait, even with a reservation. Turkey was tough. We had to send back one plate, because the turkey was all gristle and there was a hair in the potatoes. Some of the food was tasty, most was bland and tough. They ran out of the only gluten free dessert offered. Won’t be back.

We were sat at a table with high-top chairs (stools) and just about everyone in my party was uncomfortable. The restaurant did not even have a kid's menu, nor anything to order for kids such as french fries or mac & cheese. So, unfortunately, we ended up stopping off at McDonald's on the way home just to get my kid's some kid-friendly food.

The service was good, the food was good. The concern I had was the wait but it was understood because of the number of people. I did get my dessert to go and the quality was not what I expected.

My family decided to go to Founding Farmers for Thanksgiving Dinner, because the food is normally stellar as is the service. But there was a 40 minute wait despite me having a reservation, and the food was underseasoned and in some cases undercooked. My waiter was stellar but aside from that, it was an underwhelming experience.

I’ll start with the bad Reservation at 4,Wasn’t seated until 4:25 Drinks were bad All of the food The bread,Soup and main course were Luke warm For dessert my mom and son ordered apple pie The apple pie was cold paired with runny ice cream The Good My server Ellie was wonderful That’s all I believe they either over booked or didn’t anticipate The enormous crowd over all experience I would give it a 6 They didn’t honor our reservation time,I can forgive that ,But serving Luke warm food isn’t good

It took a LONG time to get the extra bread we asked for, and the waiter never took our drink order. Turkey was dry. All other food was great. Prices are too high.

This was the absolute worst experience i’ve ever had with this establishment. They asked if anyone had allergies or dietary restrictions and my nephew has a tree nut and shellfish allergy and it can be an issue with cross contamination. Well they asked the question and had protocol in place to handle it. We, for the first time, decided to go out for Thanksgiving and had no back up plan. Well because of the allergy the restaurant wasn’t comfortable serving my nephew and we had to leave! So very disappointing and I don’t ever see myself returning to any of their restaurants. They would have been better off not even asking the question. DO BETTER Founding Farmers
