3rd Coast Fish Bar is DMK Hospitality's chef driven "fish shack" concept celebrating the freshest sustainable fish and seafood available. New England and New Orleans are the focus of chef Michael Kornick's menu, including east and west coast oysters, tuna tartar, shrimp cocktail, ceviche, salmon poke, lobster roll, crabby patty or crispy gulf shrimp "Satchmo" on a bun, shrimp boil, fried calamari, shrimp and sausage gumbo, chowder, grilled salmon, mahi mahi, whitefish entrees, creamy seafood pasta, fish tacos, protein bowls, golden beet salad, Caesar salad, hush puppies, local craft beers and mixologist created seasonal cocktails. The outdoor patio provides one of Chicago’s best alfresco dining spots. Love the menu and plentiful seafood options cooked with fresh ingredients and thoughtful seasonings. Lobster roll is best in the city. Great beachhouse vibe, small scale, and friendly service.

Our last experience was pretty mediocre a few months back when they had new owners so it was nice to see they righted the ship. Food was really good and their outdoor patio is really nice, even though on a bit busier street. Great menu adds. Nice to have another quality neighborhood spot.

We were seated 10 minutes after our reservation. Didn’t see a server until 15 minutes after we sat down. The market fish was white fish - we asked which type of white fish and the server had no idea. Ordered drinks, an appetizer and dinner at the same time. Appetizer came out first then dinner came out, but no drinks. Drinks came out when we were halfway through eating our dinner. Food was mediocre. Seemed like staffing was short staffed and disorganized.

This restaurant is truly a delight. I had the pleasure of savoring delectable oysters, a creamy seafood pasta, and two refreshing mocktails. My partner opted for the Cajun seafood platter, which, while flavorful, proved to be a bit too challenging for him to navigate with the provided seafood tools. Despite this minor inconvenience, we both wholeheartedly agree that this establishment is deserving of a return visit.
