Located just outside Chichester, at the heart of the Goodwood Estate, Farmer, Butcher, Chef celebrates the beef, pork, and lamb reared at Goodwood Home Farm. Aptly named, the farmer, butcher, and chef collaborate to discuss the available cuts of meat, which are featured in our hearty Butcher’s Boards and a constantly changing seasonal menu.

Awarded two AA Rosette's, it has a relaxed atmosphere with quintessentially British interiors by Leveson Design. With a bar and beautiful courtyard where you can enjoy live music and BBQs throughout the summer months, alongside a full calendar of events, the restaurant is a space to enjoy exceptional food with friends, family and dogs are very welcome too.

Goodwood has been farmed by the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years. Susan, Duchess of Richmond was one of the Soil Association’s earliest members. Her belief in organic food and animal welfare were instrumental in Goodwood Home Farm becoming the first 100% organically fed dairy in the country.

Honestly disappointing for us !! After reading positive reviews, we expected something special. The venue is lovely, friendly staff but the food and service was disappointing. We were not offered drinks on arrival asking us if we wanted something to drink whilst waiting at the table. I had to get up and get the attention of a waitress... The staff was super busy and running round. Because we had to wait for a while before food arrived, I asked if we could get nibbles with our aperitif, which was charged around £5 on top on the bill for some crisps and a few pretzels. If we had had the light bites sooner, we may not have needed those nibbles whilst waiting for the starters ? Our drinks were ok. Some of the food (Venison croquettes) was dry, some was half cooked like with the ray skate wing more like sushi (unfortunately not explained on the menu). We had to send it back. My starter crispy oyster mushroom with seaweed came as tempura mushrooms but no visible seaweed. Again it could be more explicit on the menu or the waiter/waitress could explain it more clearly when the client orders to avoid confusion. The soup was ok but got cold... We ordered light bites thinking they would arrive before the starters but we waited a while (there was a private party of 10 or so in the next room so the kitchen would have naturally been very busy, hence the waiting time I guess) but then everything came at once: light bites and both starters so things got cold inevitably. My side cabbage to go with my main course was stone cold - I sent it back and it came back burning hot but dry. It was supposed to be a mix of red cabbage and sauerkraut but there was only red cabbage. My main course was average. I left half of it. It would be nice to see some more green vegetables on offer as sides besides brussels sprouts. The best thing was the dessert, Passion souffle. The bill was the most expensive we've ever paid for a meal for two. Over £175. water, 1 glass of wine. 1 dessert...

Great food - first time in ages everyone had three courses but the food was so amazing we had to ! Steaks were tender and tasty, venison delicious and fish fantastic . Our puddings of soufflé and apparently the most different and delicious brownie ever were a great end to the meal. Ambience ok , hard room to make really cosy, the bar could have more / better seating and made more of but overall a great place to be and everyone around s us was having a great time . Wine list was also good with fair prices . Lastly service was very good indeed , as with the whole hotel , friendly and attentive .

Our experience of Farmer, Butcher, Chef was rather mixed. Some of the dishes, such as a lamb neck main, were well thought out and delicious, while others, such as my partner's pigeon starter, were ill conceived, rather tough and very disappointing. In particular, we thought there was a lack of attention to detail for a fine dining restaurant - for example, an otherwise excellent crab starter was let down a cold and watery accompanying bisque. The wines were also very overpriced in my opinion, with our £40 bottle of white tasting less refined than most £8 supermarket purchases. We were also overcharged by £10 for this lacklustre wine but fortunately I noticed when we settled the bill. In summary, I'd say it was a bit of a curate's egg - ie good in parts - but not very good value for money and we wouldn't be tempted to go back.

Attended as a group of 6 for Sunday lunch, 2 beef 3 lamb and 1 pork. All meat's cooked to perfection and the accompanying veg all cooked well and delicious we all agreed it was the best Sunday lunch out we have had. We shared two desserts which were tasty. Good choice of drinks and everyone happy with their choice. The restaurant was busy but the service was attentive, food piping hot and nothing too much trouble. Well done.
