I had very high expectations coming to Fanny Bay especially that everyone recommends going there when in Vancouver. I was very disappointed by the food: we ordered fried calamari, tuna tartare, geoduck sashimi, Truffle fries, lobster gnocchi, clam chowder and different kinds of oysters. The only dishes we liked were the fries and calamari, and the oysters were mediocre at best. I'm not sure if it was just a bad night but I really hoped the food would be better.

Food was mostly good. The soup was cold but was replaced. Noise was quite high. Ask for a low table and you might get the smaller room at the back. Oysters were great and service was excellent.

We keep coming back for the tuna tartare, the truffle fries and of course the oysters! So delicious. We also enjoy the clam chowder.

My 5 friends and I had the pleasure of dining at this fine restaurant. Only myself and 1 other person had experienced the restaurant prior to this dinner. The service was GREAT, cocktails top notch and almost all the food was superb. The appies to share were the most amazing part of our dinner, in particular the 3 dozen oysters from various locations, Sablefish collars and the Seacuterie platter...top notch and memorable!. Mains included Fanny Bay Bouillabaisse For 2, Lobster Gnocchi and Blackened Snapper Gumbo The sole exception to this excellent meal was my colleague's fish and chips and my Chef's Daily Catch which was lingcod cheek sliders and chips. In both cases entirely too much salt on fish and chips...fish was great, breading was most disappointing. Would our band of brothers have another meal as the restaurant....YES, and ask the chef to hold back on the salt, so not to take away from the fish.

Very loud, difficult to have a conversation. Food was fresh and as expected, but a little overpriced based on the quantity. We had a reservation, and expected a nice table location, but instead had a high table beside the kitchen area. A walk in group of 3 were seated at a much better table location. Would go back but with the right level of expectation.

My husband and I visited last night for dinner, and it was a fairly casual environment. Nothing fancy, but clean and modern. Staff service was friendly and efficient. The oysters tasted very fresh, with plenty of juice and flavour! However we also had the blackened snapper gumbo where unfortunately the fish was overcooked so a bit tough. And the battered calamari, was flavourful but could have had a little less seasoning so we could also taste the calamari. Next time, we may just order oysters to go and shuck them at home. :-)
