    Exceptionally good meal, locally sourced produce and wonderful staff. As an added bonus it’s BYO so you can bring in a few bottles from the wineries in the region

    This is our second trip to Essen. This time we were driving from Melbourne to Ipswich, but made a detour to stay in Stanthorpe, and dine at Essen. Once again, we were delighted with the food. Clarissa is a wonderfully innovative chef. Every course is a delicious surprise. I was born,and grew up in Stanthorpe. Nothing like Essen existed in those days though I well remember eating Chicken Chow Mien at Hong Sings. We will certainly return to Essen. Thank You, Jonathan Thomas

    Essen is always exceptional. It's small and intimate but caters for groups. The food is locally sourced and great quality. The meals are outstanding. We go back on a regular basis and absolutely cannot recommend highly enough.

    I have been wanting to come to Essen for years. And finally made it. Our experience did not disappoint and was most certainly worth the wait. Communication with the restaurant before booking was easy and they were very patient and accomodating when I needed to make some changed to our booking. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant and friendly very cosy. I would recommend taking a look and a little walk out into the courtyard too. Look forward to coming back!

    Wonderful food, and excellent service. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who appreciates beautiful food and beautifully presented. An absolutely delightful experience. Can't wait to go back again soon.

    Such a quaint little restaurant, unassuming from the outside but so warm & welcoming on the inside! The food was amazing & staff proudly described the dish they were serving so you understood what you were eating. Well done the whole team - such an enjoyable night out!
