Nestled high above LoHi on the fifth floor of 2930 Umatilla, El Five boasts spectacular, unobstructed views of the downtown Denver skyline. The menu is an homage to the Mediterranean and features small plates built on bold flavors found throughout the region: Spain, North Africa, the Middle East.

Inside, the space is understated and sensual, flanked by a large, open-air patio for sun-kissed Colorado nights. As the newest restaurant in the Edible Beats family, El Five celebrates the confluence of flavors, ideas and geographies made possible by a subtle shift in perspective.

The food was absolutely phenomenal but they squeezed my party of five into the most cramped and uncomfortable seating. I made the reservation well in advance so I didn’t expect to be squeezed into such a small table. The table was most definitely only made for three humans. It was nearly impossible to squeeze out to use the restroom as well because the other table was so close. It made it very unpleasant to eat, esp when the meal is family style. We barely had the space for the dishes as they came out. On top of that, the restaurant was blasting the heat, we were all sweating and had to continuously take breaks on the outdoor patios. The vibes were just not it. It really ruined the experience.

My husband and I came for our 10 year anniversary. They sat us a little far from the windows which was a bummer. For food, we started with the Lebanese garlic dip. It may be some of the best hummus dip we have ever had. we then had the Bison Albondigas - the bison was amazing, well seasoned and delicious, but the remainder of the dish was a bit underwhelming and took away from the deliciousness of the bison. We also had the matzo ball soup dumplings. They were good, but our least favorite part of the meal. They were barely warm, and the dumpling dough was a bit excessively chewey. We also had the carne paella. Delicious, no notes! Every flavor was perfect. We finished with the date cake and the cheesecake. My husband loved the cheesecake. Both were a miss for me. Our waitress was wonderful, though, and we definitely will be back to try more food! Drinks: he got the zombie and I had the orchard Collin’s. Both good drinks, but nothing excessively special.

Absolutely not worth to try. Service was terrible and food was not good at all. Over cooked, over salted and recipes are just an insult to traditional plates as Couscous, paella or tapas.

Delicious!! Hip and happening scene. Beautiful skyline view. Noisy. They cleared the plates a little too quickly while we still would have been sopping up and scraping the little remains. It would be nice if they offered some bread for that purpose

10/10 recommend this experience to anyone that comes to Denver! I came here with my son, Harvey and we were helped by Tyler, Mark and Jose, getting exceptional service from them all! Tyler made sure that Harvey was comfortable with the food and was well taken care of. It was both my son’s and I first time trying these new foods from an amazingly colorful Mediterranean menu. Flavors were divine and kept you wanting to try more samples of everything! I wish we had more time here in Denver or I would definitely come back again! The skyline is beautiful to see from the restaurant as well. The vibe is just overall happy and joyous! Make sure to ask for Tyler! Thank you to the team! We will be coming back soon!

The food fell short of expectations, trying to do too much with conflicting flavors that didn’t complement each other. Instead of showcasing complexity, the overpowering tastes clashed and overwhelmed the dishes. Both my husband and I felt the food came across as overly pretentious. Adding to the disappointment, valet parking cost $15 and was not worth it. The noise level was excessive, and the music felt more suited to a dance club than a dining experience. Overall, the food was terrible, and the ambiance made it worse. Definitely not an experience we’d recommend.
