Nestled high above LoHi on the fifth floor of 2930 Umatilla, El Five boasts spectacular, unobstructed views of the downtown Denver skyline. The menu is an homage to the Mediterranean and features small plates built on bold flavors found throughout the region: Spain, North Africa, the Middle East.

Inside, the space is understated and sensual, flanked by a large, open-air patio for sun-kissed Colorado nights. As the newest restaurant in the Edible Beats family, El Five celebrates the confluence of flavors, ideas and geographies made possible by a subtle shift in perspective.

The tapas were just average, but our server stood out as excellent. We ordered a dish we didn’t enjoy, and when our server checked in, I mentioned it wasn’t our favorite, though we appreciated everything else. She went above and beyond by removing that dish from our bill, even though I was more than willing to pay for it. The cocktails were good and arrived quickly. The views were as stunning as everyone says, but the food fell short of expectations. It felt a bit lackluster, and I’d likely choose another spot for tapas next time.

Incredibly delicious, and I’m thankful they have great vegetarian options. My new favorite restaurant, can’t wait to go back!

The host wished my wife a Happy Birthday when we arrived. They gave us an amazing table. The TDH was a high priced cocktail, but it was worth every penny. One of the best I've had in awhile. "Mr. Cody" was our server. It was our first time, so he explained the different ways to navigate their menu without being pushy or trying to just make a sale. He helped us plan a great meal with the right amount of food and his recommendations were spot on. We look forward to coming back again and exploring the other options.
