   Excellent food. Superior service. Our meal was paced very well. Nothing was rushed. The server was knowledgeable and friendly without being overbearing.

   It was our first time experiencing Dressler's - and we won't be back. Honestly we were somewhat confused since the ratings for this restaurant were so high, but our experience didn't at all match the expectation unfortunately. Let's just say there are too many restaurants in Charlotte that understand the difference between serving meals and creating memories. The space is clean, and sure, the Uptown Charlotte skyline twinkled beyond those floor-to-ceiling windows. But there was nothing warm or welcoming about it. It was a cold evening outside and just as cold inside the restaurant, like an expensive fridge. We were met at the door with a nonchalant welcome. I think the guy at the stand was a server filling in for the hostess, who saw us as she took her time waltzing into the kitchen but was nonurgent to greet us. She was kind enough to come to the stand to tell him he could seat us at table xxx. Once we were seated, I can say the service was wonderful. Our waiter was professional, understanding and knowledgeable about the menu. With it being our first time, he was invaluable in helping us understand how to decide on our item selection. The clusterfusion came in with the dishes – because at these prices ($42 for scallops, $36 for crabcakes, sides at $10 a pop), you expect culinary explosion of seducing flavors. What we got was more like a flat out argument. The seafood itself? Perfection. Those scallops were seared to golden glory, and the crabcakes were packed with sweet, succulent meat. Now imagine building a beautiful sandcastle and then letting a toddler "decorate" it. That's what happened to our plates. The crabcakes battled with a schizophrenic, vinegary and sweet corn-arugula-kale situation, served with aioli. The scallops? Perched atop a bland risotto, accompanied by cold pumpkin chunks (why?) and a bizarre cabbage-onion-cauliflower medley that seemed to be having an identity crisis. This might be an unpopular opinion given their ratings. Oh well.

   Simply can’t beat this deal. Food was great and so was the service. My wife and I have been twice and each the the service was excellent. I’ve told friends and family about their Groupon deal and they jumped on it. I’m now a spokesman. Looking forward to the next time to try something different even though the steak was so good.

   Always a treat, especially when JD makes a personal appearance to welcome us. Food was good, service by Michelle and Michelle was excellent, and we had a nice evening dining with friends. Things were a little quiet on a post-holiday Saturday night, but it was a welcome reprieve from the pandemonium of the holiday, and always nice to not have to cook!
