Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Doc Martin's offers a quintessential Taos experience with "great food and service." Their standout dishes include the "best tamales" and "sublime brisket taco." Enjoy a lively atmosphere with live music at the Adobe Bar. Despite occasional service hiccups, the attentive staff and "amazing margaritas" make it a must-visit.

Service staff was nice but overall service was quite slow - limited menu - especially for the holidays and they were out of a main dish at the beginning of the evening.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Doc Martin's during my daughter’s 10th birthday trip to New Mexico. We chose the restaurant for her special dinner and made a reservation weeks in advance, but the visit on Dec 21, 2024, fell short. We arrived early and were seated promptly. The hostess was kind and wished my daughter a happy birthday. Unfortunately, service quickly declined. Despite the restaurant being half full, it took over 15 minutes for a server to greet us. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meals, but the chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole appetizer took over 35 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile, another table that arrived later was served their drinks and appetizers much faster. The appetizer was disappointing—the queso tasted like stadium nacho cheese with green chiles, and the guacamole was bland and seemed pre-packaged. At $16, it was overpriced. The salsa was spicy and flavorful but couldn’t redeem the dish. Our entrees took over an hour to arrive. By then, the other table was finishing their meal. My steak was good but undercooked; the asparagus was excellent, but the potatoes were bland and lukewarm. My daughter’s stacked enchiladas, rice, and beans were disappointing—the beans were flavorless, and the rice was bland. At $22 for her meal and $42 for mine, the quality didn’t justify the cost. The final bill was $96 before tip. While our waitress was friendly and kept us updated, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations. Lastly, I’m disappointed in the owner’s responses to online reviews. Dismissing customer feedback as "inaccurate" or issuing half-hearted apologies is unprofessional. Businesses have bad days, but customers deserve validation and genuine efforts to address concerns. Doc Martin’s has potential with its great location and atmosphere, but it needs to improve service, food quality, and management’s approach to feedback. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

We always enjoy our dining experience at Doc Martin's. The atmosphere there and at Adobe Bar is the best time in Taos. Great food and service.

The Thanksgiving dinner was disappointing. They were out of the ribeye and all desserts by six pm. Staff was overwhelmed and did their best but four people around us sent back their steak as it wasn’t done. (Us included). We were surprised as we have eaten here often and always been happy.

Our server was great but they'd just changed the menu so not very helpful in that regard. We had a large (7 people) table and no one was served at the same time. Orders were messed up. While the ambience was great, I won't be going back...

We don’t know restaurants in Taos. We wants to stay at the Taos Inn because of its history. The inn is a little tired and that may be on purpose. The food was excellent.

One of the very few authentic Taos locations remaining. Ambience, food and service were excellent. Our party of 4 would like to particularly acknowledge Dylan, our server, and Audra, the Manager, for their service and attentiveness.

We were so appreciative that they could generously accommodate our party of 14 on a snowy evening in early November. The food was delicious and the service as perfect. Thank you🌸
