The Darwin Club is closing a chapter. From the 4th of July of 2023 will only operate as a event venue.

The Darwin Club, as part of the well established and historically recognized Admiralty House, is a unique seafood dining experience in the Northern Territory.

The restaurant is located in a stunning position overlooking the endemic leafy ground of the Admiralty House, the Esplanade, and further out, the multiple shades of blue of the Arafura Sea.

The venue has an atmosphere of relaxed elegance, perpetuating the legacy of the oldest club in Darwin. The wooden floors, high ceilings, velvet seats and yesteryear photographs will swoop you through the ages, to the 1930 era, Darwin early days.

Put time on pause, come and dine with us. We will ravish your senses with a menu crafted to highlight the exceptional produce that we so carefully source.

We've had some fabulous dining experiences in Darwin but unfortunately this wasn't one of them. After a fantastic meal at Char earlier in the year we had high expectations of the Darwin Club but we were disappointed with every aspect of our evening. The wonderful old Admiralty House building deserves a far higher standard of food and service than is currently provided.

I would have preferred the snapper dish but decided against it due to the chorizo.

The entire dining experience was amazing, service was excellent, quality of meals superb and ambience delightful. As the evening wore on and the number of patrons dropped though, we could really hear the music coming from downstairs, which was at odds with the music upstairs. I would suggest having the same music being piped through both venues in order to resolve this.

Wow Anita thanks a lot for your amazing review and your feedback! We will pass it on to our management so they can make sure we short the music situation out. Looking forward to welcome you back soon. Regards, The Darwin Club team

Sadly I can't give this restaurant the accolades the food warranted due to poor experience with ambience and staff. Guests in private room so loud and drunk that we could have been in a public bar on Mitchell Street. After asking staff to try to quieten down the room, the atmosphere worsened with even louder behaviour and jeering. Nothing the staff were responsible for and many apologies offered but definitely not a fine dining experience. What spoilt the night was our request to move to a quiet area downstairs after our entree course was met with a lie (there is no room downstairs when there was plenty of empty tables) and then finally a move downstairs after we insisted. We watched our mains sit on the bar upstairs as we were moved, then after being seated had to wave down staff to ask for water and a wine list so we could have something to drink with our meal. Then we had someone attempt to serve us one of our entrees (already consumed upstairs) and then another staff member bring us both of our main meals (after we had finished our mains). No communication or organisation from staff or managers on a Thursday night that was not incredibly busy. Very disappointing and would not recommend if you want a fine dining experience or have a special occasion to celebrate and want to guarantee that it is not ruined by other guests. Sad because our dishes were generous serves ad exceptional flavour but overall, not worth the expense or aggravation. Only spoiler on what has otherwise been a fantastic holiday in Darwin.

Hi Marie, We are sorry to hear that your experience dining with us didn't achieve your expectations. This is far away from the experience that we like to offer. It seems like we missed the mark with you and I'm really sorry about it. As you said, the team tried to quieten down the room without luck. We've taken this into consideration and we won't host this groups in the future. We ask you to don't judge us just in this interaction and come back in the future. Regards, The Darwin Club Team

I was bitterly disappointed with my dining experience on 19/4/2023. We were on holiday from interstate and looking forward to dinner based on reputation and reports. That evening there were only approx. 13 dinner guests ( including our party of 3) - however we were subjected to a very noisy unpleasant group being served in the private space. My wife asked the staff to close the adjoining door as the language became abusive, but this proved totally ineffective. It seems such an inappropriate booking for a venue that promotes a fine food and wine dining experience. We did complain on settling the account as did our neighbouring table - who were in fact locals - but the response was somewhat lame. We are happy to spend over $500 for a fine dining experience but this raucous, blokey environment was more akin to a sports bar.

1.Lobster tails was mushy and watery , ravioli was chewy ,too much sauce was used. 2.The batter on the King George Whiting was so heavily crumbed with bread it detracted from the fish. The so called triple cooked chips tasted like baked potatoes 3.The beer was flat, the bottle of wine we order was not available. 4. Coral trout was replaced by Swordfish. 5. $50 credit card surcharge was showing on the bill instead of showing public holiday surcharge. 6.The disclaimer about a credit card surcharge was ripped off the bill at the bottom of the receipt. 7.When paying, a credit card surcharge was also charged. This was not expressed by the cashier, even though It said I was paying by cheque account. Please note I do not have an issue with a public holiday surcharge. 8. The staff were lovely and the venue is beautiful. AGF 2023 Mmmmmm. Worst meal we had in Darwin.

Whilst the staff were friendly the food was not worth the price. The scallops were very overcooked, the squid was surrounding mush on the plate and the risotto came topped with deep fried squid, something I don't expect when paying $48. They didn't have the nicer selection of wines I asked for and the coffee was terrible. The house is nice but the room didn't have much atmosphere.

Very ordinary food for the price. Service was good. I wasn’t charged for the mains dish I sent back. Wouldn’t return again.
