Cured – The gastro-pub style restaurant, in the heart of the Pearl District of San Antonio, TX. Cured is endowed with a name that celebrates Chef Steve McHugh's successful battle against cancer, as well as the artisanal cured meats that are the cornerstone of his menu. The three-time James Beard Award finalist began his culinary journey on a small farm in Wisconsin and a vibrant decade in New Orleans. This position eventually led him to San Antonio where, with a new lease on life after beating lymphoma, he ventured out on his own to open Cured. McHugh's gastronomic foundation relies on the purity of natural regional ingredients and the hands-on unadultured methods that enhanced his own healing process. This from-scratch focus finds its way to seasonally dynamic menus of cured delicacies from the charcuterie to pickles.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Steve McHugh

From the OpenTable editors: Cured is where you go for some of the country’s best charcuterie, thanks to James Beard-nominated chef Steve McHugh. Step into the rustic, century-old brick building with ham hocks swinging in a glass case, then choose from nearly a dozen charcuterie options like venison loin to elk paté. Don’t miss other menu standouts like crispy fried quail legs and steak frites starring premium cuts of beef like a dry-aged porterhouse

Tyler our server was awesome and attentive. We enjoyed the choice of 9 charcuterie board and loved the whipped pork butter so much we bought a jar 😋 We also shared the lobster gnocchi, Chili Crisp Little Gem, and a smoked chicken thigh gumbo. For the $28 price point the lobster gnocchi's serving size is pretty small and definitely not a "meal size" it's more what I would consider to be a small/medium side. That said it was absolutely delicious but still left our daughter hungry for more. My husband chose the "full portion" of the gumbo and he couldn't get over how delicious he found it and said he'll definitely come back for it.

Chefs table was an excellent place to try Cuted. Chef newly arrived from Sonoma shared a couple of tasty bites: a scallop served in the shell with lime herbs and a thin slice of pork? Not sure but it was savory, citrusy and a bit of sweet. Chef later brought us a fried quail leg in some homemade pepper jelly that was delicious. We ordered the foil gras, the chickpea fritters and the seared tuna. We were stuffed! Chef left us with a little chocolate cup with some honeyed oats. Will definitely return .

Don’t miss an opportunity to visit Cured! We first went there eight years ago and were impressed, and our recent visit was every bit as good as before, and the service was stellar. Definitely get a charcuterie board, pork empanadas, and fried quail legs to start! If you have a large group, call and talk to Sophia the office manager. We had 13 in our group, and they had charcuterie boards waiting for us when we arrived (Sophia’s recommendation). Luckily for us, we’re back in SA again this weekend for HS football playoffs and will be going again this weekend but with 23 this time! THANK YOU. SOPHIA!

Three of us had a delicious dinner at Cured. We shared 6 items as part of the charcuterie board. All were delicious and I really like the pork butter, just because it is so different and a bit decadent. That was filling so we each decided on a lighter dinner and ended up ordering the sale things - their salad and the version of tartare. The salad easily is enough for two. All really great flavors. A cocktail and a nice pinot rounded out the dinner. Well worth the visit.

What an evening! The staff was amazing. So friendly and helpful. Nice bar choices. Wine was good. Food choices are limited but that didn’t hold us back! Started with a 3 item charcuterie board. Delicious! Shared main courses. One was prime rib and the other was the bone in cowboy ribeye. Both were very good. Side dishes on the prime rib were okay. The butter radishes could have been cooked longer, in our opinion. The greens weren’t very flavorful. The fries that came with the ribeye were outstanding! Had the bread pudding for dessert. It was warm and delicious. Overall, enjoyed our experience and will go again!!

Overpriced for the mediocre food. Server constantly tried raising the tab. Annoying.
