Cooks & Soldiers brings the cuisine and cultural experience of Spain’s Basque region to the flourishing West Midtown area. The menu is divided into “pintxos tradicionales,” or tapas-like snacks served atop toasted bread; “pinxtos especiales,” or Basque-inspired small plates; “asador” including a variety of wood-grilled fish, meats and vegetables; and a selection of unique and modern desserts. Behind the bar, Cooks & Soldiers offers guests an extensive collection of Basque and Spanish wines, txakoli and ciders, in addition to craft beer and signature cocktails. The cocktail list places a heavy emphasis on gin, offering a seasonal selection of house-infused tonics blended into gin tonics and other popular libations.

    Cooks & Soldiers is at the top of my list for an evening out in Atlanta. I know we're always going to have a friendly welcome, excellent service, good wine choices and a mix of our favorite dishes and new specials. Our latest visit was no exception. We were greeted by several at the host stand. When we were seated, someone quickly checked our water preference. Then Anna, a server who had already helped us through several wonderful evenings, showed up with some cava to help us get started. We had a hard time narrowing things down but finally chose the pan de setas, our perennial favorite of earthy mushrooms on bread with a light spread of goat cheese creme fraiche, as well as the pulpo a la gallega because we hadn't had it for a while, vieiras (scallops) - they are always presented with some interesting vegetables, and the sunchokes. Anna coursed it out nicely so we weren't too rushed, and we ordered more cava to round out the meal. Had we had more people or bigger appetites we probably would have tried the bikini, a next-level grilled cheese with Iberian ham, or txistorra envuelta, a fun presentation of the Basque sausage, or txangurro, the classic crab dish. As it was, we had to take a box with us when we left. Everything was wonderful. I imagine the pan de setas was the favorite, but we loved the variety of the small plates. Thanks to everyone at C&S and especially Anna.

    Overall, just fantastic! Great vibe, welcoming staff, a menu with something for everyone that will be highly satisfying. Some familiar items, some not so familiar, but the best part is these are just small plates! It doesn’t cost much to explore!

    After enjoying "Tapas" regularly over the past several years, it was time to experience the Basque equivalent, Pinxtos, or Pinchos in English. Every dish was a wonderful adventure for the pallet and taste buds. From the charcuterie to the pulpa, each plate was excellently crafted and served in a good rhythmic timing that complimented the outstanding service. And the wine and cocktails were fabulous as well. With one member of the party celebrating a birthday, Cooks and Soldiers was a great dining experience for the event. We look forward to another visit very soon.

    Cooks and Soldiers is always the best! Our server was great and so was the food. 2 pieces of feedback- 1. the “new” (for me) version of the patatas bravas was delicious but could have used a little more sauce. 2. The $3.50 “platform charge” for paying through the QR code is silly. I have to pay to pay? Otherwise 5 stars.

    This is one of me and my husbands favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The vibe is so nice and the service is always top tier. But the food is what brings us back. The food is AMAZING!! We’ve never ordered something that we didn’t love. My faves are the mushroom toast, puff pastry with burrata, stuffed crab and the octopus. But honestly I don’t think there is anything in the menu that isn’t out of this world delicious!
