Step into COMPA, here the servings are generous and
the atmosphere is effortlessly sophisticated. It feels
instantly familiar. Descending into the space is like giving
an old friend a long overdue hug.

For Matt Moran’s ACT debut - antipasto, pasta and charcoal
dishes bring a touch of Tuscany to your table. As with all
his establishments, at the heart of his menu is quality
produce that is fresh, seasonal and locally sourced.
COMPA is built on a simple, often forgotten pairing: good
food and good company.

Compa was underwhelming. Food was ok but certainly not what you’d expect (and we’ve had in other places) for the price. Service from one member of staff was good, the rest was terrible. No atmosphere, strange combinations of food and generally disappointing. We won’t be rushing back

Food was nice but seriously overpriced. Service was slow but okay. When you go to pay the bill the first thing you are confronted with is a request for a percentage based tip. We seem to have disconnected the willingness to pay a tip to people, who all receive as a minimum award wages, based on service that goes above and beyond. There now seems to be an expectation to reward mediocrity.

Compa Compa Compa we loved you on our first visit and raved about you, so when the opportunity arose to share you with interstate friends we jumped at. And what a disappointment and car wreck it was, firstly you squeezed 5 adults on to a table that could not hold a normal amount of dishes and wine glasses so we’re forced to juggle glasses and plates all night - worse your staff didn’t even notice or care - 1 actually laughed. From the moment we were shown to our table the service just crashed and burned, our waiter was more in the 2 young ladies on the next table and did not return after handing us the menus and wine list. No drinks, no wine nothing, we sat for 20 minutes trying to get the art attention of another staff member and they weren’t busy. Finally we have someone’s attention and ask about the list of Italian wines, no offer of a sommelier just stops and waited for us to select something that we hoped would be ok. Later it was worse when we again revisited the wine list and asked for Italian red recommendations and wait for it was told to ‘google it’ as the wine waiter ‘had gone’ WTF! Seriously Compa you have some $$$ wines on that list and we were prepared to spend but not on that advice. It has now become a standing joke in our friends. For dinner we ordered the sharing menu with oysters to start and scallops for 1 of our party, the entree’s turned up before the oysters and we were told they will come later, still being opened - fresh is great but entree’s were already on the table and then the oysters arrived, this is where table Tetris came into play, the waiter simply stood and waited for us to make room. Anyway the night did not improve, the food was a vast improvement on the service but the bistecca( Florentine steak) was seriously disappointing, ( unlike our previous visit). Anyway after repeated requests for water, wine plates to be cleared - you get it, it was a complete disappointment, we had been so keen to share this restaurant with friends.
