From the OpenTable editors: Fine-dining vet Jordan Smith has plenty of fun with the menu at his French-ish Ferndale spot that the Detroit Free Press named 2024's best new restaurant. The sleek wooden interiors make it feel very upscale, but Coeur is totally unpretentious and laidback. Expect a seasonal menu of dishes like a branzino curry with trumpet mushroom and next-level desserts from pastry chef Carla Spicuzzi like a swanky take on a Choco Taco.     Had a bourbon tasting dinner. Very interesting. They matched each course with a grain that was dominant in the bourbon. It was also all vegetarian. One dish you would have thought was a meat course, but was made with trumpet mushrooms. Enjoyed every course and learned a lot about bourbon. Would definitely recommend.

    For having such an amazing chef and sommelier, the staff and ambience is a little off. Weird country western lax vibe…just was a bit uncomfortable

    The food at Couer has always been great and it’s getting better and better. Mussels, their version of chicken cordon blue, and duck confit pasta and were excellent. Service was also excellent, with Sean (the sommelier) always a high point.

    The chef's tasting menu with wine pairing was the perfect way to experience Coeur's menu. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The right balance for a special night.

    Coeur is a hidden gem in Ferndale — upscale but unfussy. Truly one of the best restaurants around, from the impeccable service, to the deep and thoughtful wine list, amazing n/a beverage program, and top-notch and unique food prepared by a team that really cares. It’s so nice to have such a nice restaurant in Ferndale. (But the burger is easily one of the best I’ve ever had and the desserts are always so fun and tasty.) Don’t sleep on Coeur!

    A good meal with great service, but definitely overpriced and over hyped. Short rib with polenta was delicious.Octopus was overchared but undercooked on the inside for my taste.

    My friends and I had dinner here to celebrate my birthday and it was wonderful. We tried the risotto, branzino and scallops. All were great. Waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. Wine selection is excellent and cocktails on point! Highly recommend.

    We were celebrating a special event. Every request we had beforehand was met and we all had an outstanding experience. The sommelier was knowledgeable and fun. The food, wow. Everything had an interesting twist to it. Not your same old food. Dessert did not disappoint! It only added to the quality of the food we had for dinner. What fun. Will be back

    A wonderful team providing a great experience as we experienced the tasting menu with wine pairings. The food I’ve had off the regular menu before were better than the tasting menu, but by no means does that mean the tasting menu wasn’t worth a try! The staff and service here is award worthy, however I would recommend the same runners presenting the tasting menu each course.
