   Way too expensive for what you get. My wife and I shared 1 entree and two sides. Each had one glass of wine and shared one desert. Bill with tip was $165 food was good but too expensive

   I miss the charcuterie offerings. I feel like that made this place so unique. I also miss their old brunch offering. The food was decent but I don’t think matched the price and there weren’t many things on the menu that looked really exciting or unique. Our server never came back to get the drink order I said I wanted and I don’t recall came back to check on us. The ambiance is top notch but I just miss their old menu.

   Thank you for your support of Claywood. We understand that menu changes can be disappointing. Our charcuterie-forward model was a temporary response to 7th Avenue construction and is now featured every Thursday. Brunch was also seasonal and paused so we could focus on our evolving farm-to-table dinner experience, which highlights the freshest local ingredients. I personally checked on your table during your visit, but we’ll follow up with our team to ensure no service steps are missed. We hope you’ll join us again soon and revisit what makes Claywood special. Your feedback is valued and helps us grow.

   Reservation made for a birthday dinner with my GF and myself on a Saturday night; never been there before. Extremely welcoming ambience, vibe, decor when we first walked in. Seated very quickly. Took a few minutes to get the drinks going, but the bar was busy, not a huge deal at all. server was very welcoming and friendly. Was able to describe several of the appetizers for us, we chose pork belly and scallops to share for our appetizers, both were VERY good, only ‘complaint’ is the scallops app came with 3, for the value i would have loved 4. We both ordered the lamb rack entree. Holy smokes, cooked to perfection, was melt in mouth delicious. We are looking forward to trying Claywood again in the next season, as there menus are seasonal!

   My husband and I dined at Claywood for the first time since our friend recommended the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant for the ambiance, food and service. Our waitress was very friendly and enthusiastic about helping us decide the best way to choose menu options, i.e., sharing and main courses. We shared the salad (excellent) and had the lamb rack and strip loin. Both were cooked to perfection with a nice char. The chef does a good job with his creative sides. This is a higher-end restaurant in Hendersonville and worth our 30 minute drive. Definitely plan to visit again to try more menu options.

   Each menu item is meticulously prepared and presented beautifully. Each dish I have tried in my several visits is extraordinary. This is fine dining and a treat on any night. Service is professional, knowledgeable and personable. I am so grateful to have this option in Hendersonville!

   First experience. Great trendy atmosphere. Live music the night we were there. Burger and bourbon night. One of our group ordered the pasta dish. Very small serving felt more like a starter. Otherwise satisfying and we will try it again.

Regarding the pasta dish, it is, in fact, a small plate intentionally designed for sharing and experiencing multiple dishes throughout the meal. However, the portion is also conducive for one person to enjoy as a lighter main course.    First time to Claypool after hearing good things and the food did not disappoint. In fact all the dishes we had were excellent, including the Hamachi Crudo and Bone Marrow apps and fish of the day (Snapper) and Rack of Lamb for entrees. service was very attentive and quick. Ambiance is nice in a classy pub/bar style manner with a very attractive bar area. Decent selection of wine - and obviously a huge selection of bourbons/whiskies The big issue - and it is an issue - is that the food came out so quickly that we could have been done eating in 20 minutes if we wanted to. From the time we placed our order - the appetizers were out in less than 5 minutes - fine -although we had not even gotten our wine at that point - but then our entrees showed up 5 minutes after that while we still eating the appetizers. not good. so we had 5 plates sitting on the table. I mentioned this to the waiter and he apologized and later on in the meal they offered us a free dessert, which was nice. It just seemed like everyone was in hurry to close the place down. At 8:20 pm on a Saturday night with still a decent crowd, they were scrubbing down the floors of open kitchen in plain view of the patrons. I will come back for the food as it is some of the best I have had in the Asheville/Hendersonville area but will give clear instructions on the pace of food delivery to ensure this doesn't happen again or will order apps only and then order the mains later. Maybe this was a one off but this is an expensive restaurant and so they need to figure it out

Was there something specific that impacted the value rating since you have stated it exceeded your expectations? We truly appreciate your visit and hope to welcome you back for an even better experience soon. As a small, chef-driven restaurant with an open kitchen, we have to be mindful of efficiency—especially when reservations are extremely low for a Saturday evening. March poses inconsistencies for restaurants in this community and we have to be fiscally responsible with payroll. While this practice is common, it may be more visible in our space. That said, we hear you and will refine pacing.

    Claywood is a really great boutique restaurant and whiskey bar. It was a perfect evening for a quiet dinner, the food was delicious and the service was very personal. There was light song and acoustic guitar music in the background, and we could still easily talk. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the greater Asheville area- Hendersonville area.
