Didn’t start very well. We were asked if we want tap water or sparkling water and then after ordering our sparking water another lady came hi to ask if we wanted tap of sparkling water (obvious disorganisation in this restaurant!). Then we order our food… it was 6.30pm and we are told that duck pancakes are sold out. Like seriously??? Complete joke this restaurant! We ordered dumplings, prawn toast & san choi bao pork. Dumplings were disgusting. The dough was thick and not thin as you would expect it to be. Basic frozen dumplings. Woolworths sells better dumplings! Prawn toast was nothing exciting. Flavourless! And a cocktail sauce that you can find at Woolies… not very exciting or delicious…! The san choi bao pork was also very disappointing and tasteless. They made it a very boring dish. We thought of ordering 2 mains after eating these dishes but after seeing how poor food quality was the first few dishes we stopped the disaster there! On our way back home we ordered take away Chinese from Shanghai Night in Ashfield and we basically made up for this disgusting night out!

Our waitress was so lovely and kind. The food was delicious. I took 9 teenage girls for the banquet and was not disappointed.

A little gem tucked away in Tramsheds that was very good. The food was excellent and wine list reasonably priced. Service was very good and efficient. Suprised not to see a crowd on a Sunday for lunch.

Organised a bottomless brunch ($85 option) as a birthday celebration with a group of 10. While the food was excellent - the service was mediocre and the drink timing was poor. Firstly be weary that they will only serve one drink at a time, this is not stated on their website. Within the first hour we had only received two cocktails per person… when asked about this they stated that it was because we had not finished our first drinks however this wasn’t mentioned to us before and we had to explicitly ask why drinks were so slow. Also we believe it was because they took around 20/30 mins to make the drinks as they seemed understaffed and we did order more drinks when we had received our initial order. In 90 mins we had about 3 cocktails per person on average and when the time ended were immediately cut off, there was no warning about time finishing or any leniency given how slow the service was. Each time a dish was brought out, there was no explanation on what it was, they just placed it on the table and left abruptly, leaving us guessing what it was. For a place which promises “endless drinks” as stated on their website, the amount we received was poor and disappointing. They seemed understaffed, with only 1 bartender to service two large 10 person brunch groups. Each cocktail was individually made, slowing the process. While a 10% service fee is mentioned on the website, for the cost of the brunch and how poor their service was I don’t believe this was justified. The venue was also not very busy, so it seems they were just poorly staffed. Overall, while the food was amazing, I wouldn’t recommend China Diner for bottomless brunch.

The prawn toast is amazing. Some of our dishes were not quite hot enough. The dumplings weren’t great but everything else was delicious.
