Permanently Closed - The original restaurant was opened in 1962 in the 8th District of Paris by Francis Marie.
Maximilien Marie, the 23-year-old grand son of Francis, now plans to launch a second UK-based restaurant in Knightsbridge.
the menu features traditional bistrot items with a focus on meat. Chez Max & Philippe is one of Paris’s most sought-after restaurants and is a favourite with many celebrities including Sharon Stone and Jack Nicholson.

Proper french cuisine and very friendly staff! Highly recommend, felt back in Paris! Really enjoyed the ambiance, great music.

Good - fantastic sirloin steak - good portion size - beautifully warm and fresh bread - fantastic kitsch wine bar upstairs for pre/post dinner drinks with bonus of a terrace Less good - a bit quiet and lacking in atmosphere (brilliant for a quiet business lunch though)

This restaurant is nothing like the one in Paris, steak arrived overcooked also. Disappointing considering it's our favorite restaurant in Paris. Asparagus was half the size of the ones you get in France.

The food was completely tasteless and way over rated. Nothing special in terms of ambiance, decor, taste or presentation. I would not go back.

The Best of Paris in London ! In Paris, le Gourmet des Ternes is a must, a French traditional brasserie from 1962. In London, Max has created a wonderful concept with the same design, first in Warwick, Formosa Street (which is called now Les Petits Gourmets) and then this new Flagship in Knightsbridge. You will find a wonderful meat from the best French origin, marvellously cooked grilled, amazing French fries,spinach, or fillet of veal. And for starters foie gras, snails, peeled tomatoes, celeriac ..... But here you've got a bonus at the first stair with a bar which seems to be there for 50 years, with an old baby foot, and signature cocktails from Dylan. Knightsbridge is just located between The Bulgari Hotel and Zuma. It is a five stars restaurant, and undoubtably the new star of the area. The best of Paris and France (without any defaults !) in London !!!!

Very well situated in the heart of Knightsbridge, a definite option for any visitor to Harrods! Pleasant and well served, the food is typical bistrot-chic French with a small but excellent and clever wine list that will hopefully increase over time.
