Chef Yu serves up deliciously spicy dishes at his namesake restaurant in the Garment District. His specialties are the Beef Tendon and marinated beef with hot pepper sauce, but that doesn't mean all Yu's dishes aren't standouts! Not only are they delicious, but they are inexpensive. The food at Chef Yu was terrific, well priced and very good quality. We had an eggplant with garlic sauce that was among the best I’ve ever eaten. The restaurant wasn’t crowded on a cold weeknight, yet the waitstaff had a way of avoiding eye contact with customers as if they were incredibly busy. No smiles either. We’ll go back because of the food and prices. Maybe next time we’ll get a smile too.

Great decor, the lighting was nice n not harsh. The scallion pancakes were perfectly lightly fried . The general tso n crispy beef were amazing as well, the rice could’ve been better but still decent. The prices were the best part especially considering the area. Will def be back

A 5pm reservation meant we had the place to ourselves. Service was incredibly attentive, food was delicious, and my entire family said it was really good. The ho and sour soup was delicious!

It started out really good, we got a table by the window. We had a couple of happy hour cocktails, but then it went south for a bit. My friend‘s dish came out and mine never did. I sat there about 20 minutes,could not find my waiter. When I finally called the manager over, she went into the kitchen came back out to tell me that there was something wrong with the deep fryer and that’s they couldn’t make my dish. It took a half an hour for someone to address it and only after I asked about it, my friend was already done with her dinner. They did not even offer a complementary drink. I said to them, can you take something off the bill and they gave us a free drink after that. The food was very good though. But that was not a good impression for my first time there. I would give it another shot when I’m in the area. Hopefully it will go accordingly.
