  • Neighbourhood gem
  • Great for happy hour
  • Good for special occasions
Award-winning Denver chef Elise Wiggins welcomes you to Cattivella, wood-fired Italian in the Eastbridge project in the Stapleton neighborhood where she lives. Cattivella translates to “naughty girl”.

Chef/Owner Wiggins brings decades of restaurant experience to Cattivella and was named Best Italian by Westword and winner of multiple awards for food and service from The Denver Post, 5280 magazine, The American Culinary Federation and The American Automobile Association. She makes an annual pilgrimage to Italy to work with Italian chefs and learn the classic techniques and ingredients that she employs at Cattivella.

An exhibition kitchen is the star of the show at Cattivella and focuses all attention on a wood-burning pizza oven, a wood-burning grill and the graceful dance of the Cattivella cooks.

The place as stressed due to restaurant week special, and the service was slow as a result, but patience resulted in a fabulous meal and we will be back.

The food was wonderful: every item was thoughtfully prepared from the freshest ingredients. We enjoyed the Restaurant Week selections, and found every course to be top-notch. Disappointed with the server, their first day, as out of touch and unaware of our pace. The second course was brought when we had literally just taken the first bite or our first course; then the salad was overlooked prior to delivery of mains. Front of house manager did a great job assisting the server, and covered for his complete lack of knowledge on the wines, which are a tremendous value on Tuesdays, with half price bottles. Overall, would definitely go back.

Cattivella was disappointing and EXTREMELY misleading for Restaurant Week 2025. In order to be concise and to the point, I'm going to list bullet points instead of writing a novel. Overall - over-priced, tiny portions, cold food, bad service, and missing big components of dishes. I will not be returning. - The restaurant week menu that was given to my party was missing several items that were featured on the Restaurant Week Menu. (no oysters listed as option for the first course and no parmigiano flan for the 2nd course. - The food was all room temperature or slightly above. The aioli with the baby artichokes was runny, room temperature, and bland. The calamari was lukewarm, soggy, and bland. The second course burrata came with one slice of prosciutto that was dry and had clearly been sitting out for awhile. My portion came with 2 small pieces of grilled bread, and my sister's portion came with 3. The arugula salad was small, and came topped with slice almonds, not pine nuts. The arugula was also dry and wilted. My portion had 4 strands of tagliatelle, and my sister's portion had significantly more. The pasta was mushy and cold, the sauce wasn't even lukewarm, and the sauce was sparse and cold. For dessert, the Almond Raspberry Torte did not come topped with whipped amaretto cream. The odd frosting on top tasted like it had been sitting in the refrigerator uncovered for several days. The flourless cinnamon chocolate torte did not come with caramel sauce or candied walnuts. The almond raspberry torte was a full disc, and the flourless chocolate torte was also a disc, but came cut in half. Our server ignored us and didn't ask how our food was, despite being there for an hour and a half. It appears that Restaurant Week for Cattivella seems like an over-priced cash grab gimmick instead of actually making decent food. At least PRETEND to care.

We went for restaurant week, and boy, do they have some work to do. Started out with great mocktails and ordered all our food at once. I ordered 2 extra oysters with the 1st course, and they came out cold.. Our 2nd course had burrata with barely any burrata on pita. The manager tried to bring out the 3rd course before we got our 2nd course and then rudely asked, "So you want me to take them back?" And then proceeded to try to hand them off to another table. The 4th course came extremely late, and the vegetarian dish had 0 pesto cream. And the meatball dish came with 4 tortellini and 1 small meatball. The best part was the desserts by far. I know portions are small during restaurant week. However, this experience overall was a letdown.
