Casa Vega, in Sherman Oaks, opened its doors in 1956 and has been serving the people of Southern California ever since. Local residents, and even celebrities, have flocked to the family-run Mexican restaurant currently run by Christy Vega Fowler, daughter of original owner, Rafael Vega. While the decor is modern, the menu still reflects traditional Mexican menu staples. The extensive menu allows for every person to find something to enjoy. Homemade house guacamole, or one of the many soup or salad options, make for a great starter. The entree options are plentiful. Casa Vega serves everything from traditional chicken mole, a plethora of burrito options, combination plates and specialty options, such as carne chile Colorade and the signature Casa Vega molcajete. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. Top off your meal at Casa Vega with a delicious house margarita or mojito.

Food was delicious, think service was slow due to our waiter having large groups to wait on on his rotation

I won’t be going back anytime soon. The Molcajete for two was very small. It tasted ok I’ve had a lot better for a lot less money. It was barely enough for one. My wife and I were sat so close to another party that it made it uncomfortable for everyone. We could definitely hear each other’s conversation’s. It’s very dark inside. The one bright spot was our waiter. He was excellent. Very attentive. He is an asset to the restaurant.

Food was bland and had no flavor. Drinks were weak and too sweet. So loud.

Just not what it used to be. Casa Vega used to be a great experience. Food was phenomenal. Today, it fell short of the mark. Mexican Cobb salad was bland. Tacos were average. Guacamole was missing something: flavor. Service was very good. But, Casa Vega proved the mediocre 3.0 rating they have on Yelp.

Food was great per usual!! My only complaint is that the tables were too squished together.
