   The Tour de Fork events on the first and third Mondays are always fun. You get to go to a different "country" every time and the food is delicious

   The “Tour de Forks” menus always offer surprising and varied tastes — add to that the excellent service and downright reasonable prices, and Cafe Malta is a real winner —

   When the restaurant was still mostly empty, I asked the waiter to lower the column of the swelling music so the conversation would be easier. He acted like my request was weird and I don't think he did. The food was tasty, but not extraordinary, and the appetizer (hummus and pita) was overly filling.

   Each time I’ve dined at Cafe Malta before (there have been several) I enjoyed the delicious food, excellent service and cheerful atmosphere. This time was different. I felt like our table was crammed between the bar and people next to us. Our waitress was nice but she forgot my boyfriend’s cocktail, served cold bread (with what tasted like margarine not butter only when we asked for it) brought an extra salad by mistake (we were not charged) and overlooked our several attempts to get her to bring the check. It was a busy Friday night and I made our reservation last minute so I understand but it just wasn’t up to the standard of my previous dining experiences there. Café Malta is a gem in a wasteland of restaurants with mediocre food and bad service in Southwest Austin. I hope this was an aberration and I plan to go back. I really hope I wont be disappointed again.

   We had to arrive on a weekday at 1:30 and the kitchen closes at 2. The waitress was gracious about the situation, brought our food promptly once we ordered. We were not hurried. I have been coming to this restaurant at least five years and never disappointed with the food or service. It’s busy and sometimes crowded at dinner so lunch is perfect for a quiet catchup meal with a friend.

   We had New Years Eve dinner at Cafe Malta. It was a five course menu and we truly enjoyed all of the menu items. The tenderloin was the best.

   We love Cafe Malta and our NYE tradition is always the prix fixe and it’s outstanding, every time. Love the food here and the service and the cocktails are top notch! Thank you, Cafe Malta!

    As always, a fabulous experience. Go early if you like a quiet vibe, once it fills up the conversations around you can be loud. But not the music. The bar seating is also very nice.
