   Bucca’s has always been one of our favorites on the Cape. However, this time it fell short. Three of us were seated in the extremely noisy bar at a very cramped table in a corner next to the kitchen entrance. When we asked to be seated in the dining room we were told it was fully booked. In addition, the bread was flattened from cutting it (we’ve had much better bread in the past) and the Grilled Romaine Salad (usually a fave so we all ordered it) was swimming in dressing. The entrees were fine and the service was very good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, as were the bussing staff and host. Next time, I will call and request to be seated in the dining room. I was told because we booked online, Open Table uses a first come basis for assigning tables. Although I made the booking on Dec 20th, we were seated at probably the worst table in the restaurant…I realize someone has to sit there, I just wish it had not been us!

   We were surprised to get a last-minute reservation for 6 pm on the Friday between Christmas and New Years. It had been a while since we last ate at Buca's Tuscan Roadhouse, but the quality of the food and service was still top notch. Our server, Ishmael, remembered taking care of us on a previous visit and helped us with our selections of entrees, wine and dessert. We enjoyed their fresh baked bread with olive oil and a couple of pre-dinner cocktails. We decided to go all-in on sharing dishes, allowing us to taste 3 different choices. We started with their Cozzi Arabiata, local mussels in a spicy garlic plum tomato sauce. The mussels were very tasty, and the spicy tomato sauce complimented the mussels and was also wonderful with the fresh bread. My wife selected the Siciliano pasta dish, fresh spaghetti with white anchovies, garlic, currants, pine nuts in olive oil with toasted breadcrumbs. This dish was our favorite of the night, with a truly surprising and delightful taste combining the plentiful white anchovies with the currants and pine nuts in the garlicky oil sauce! We also enjoyed a hearty Pesce Principale special that featured a lovely halibut over angel hair pasta with asparagus and delectable thinly sliced sun-dried tomatoes. Another truly tasty dish. We finished our evening with one of their special desserts, a salted Caramel Creme Brulee that was wonderful and light. Ishmael recommended a couple of bottles of white wines to pair with our food choices, and we enjoyed a refreshing Sangiovanni Della Sala Orvieto that paired perfectly with the seafood and pasta dishes. Overall, Buca's Tuscan Roadhouse remains among the top of our favorite authentic Italian restaurants on Cape Cod. We will return.

   Amazing experience as always…food superb (compliments to chef on eggplant parmigiana bolognese!), Nina service excellent, and atmosphere festive. Like XMas again
