This was our first time eating here. I have wanted to try it for quite sometime so we went on New Years Eve when they had a set menu. We liked the ambiance and the service but the food, not so much. We are foodies and we had high expectations for this place. Our appetizers and desserts were good but our main courses were not. My husband had the smoked Cornish hen. It was very dry and had no flavour. I had the surf and turf, and was told that it was a striploin steak with 3 large shrimp. The steak was a joke! It was a flat fast fry piece of meat with no flavour. The roasted potatoes were covered in brown stuff that was awful. The only thing I really ate was the shrimp, they were quite good. The other thing that I disagreed with was the added 20% gratuity to our bill. The service was good so we would have tipped that amount anyways but to automatically charge it was very presumptuous. I had high expectations for this place, but sadly we won't be back. Our bill was over $300 and definitely not worth it.

From the moment you walk down the stairs and into the restaurant, you feel like you're in a different country. The food was incredible and the pricing is what you would expect for a fine dining experience.

At last we have found a restaurant in Hamilton that ticks all the boxes. Brothers Grimm is downstairs in a basement and it’s got a wonderful atmosphere, original stone walls, vaulted brick ceiling, large bar area, comfy seating. The menu is distinctive, not the usual boring selection common to so many dining establishments, but filled with interesting dishes. The biggest problem is deciding what to order - so many tempting choices including venison, game sausages, steak frites. The wine list includes many unusual bottles - apparently the cellar features only wines not found at the LCBO. Highly recommend.

Dishes were very fresh and authentic European flare. Lots of wild game dishes on menu. Good ambiance and service. A great time overall. Definitely a good pace for foodies.

Food was excellent albeit slightly expensive but the quality is worth the extra cost. A great alternative to some chain fancy restaurants if you are looking for a special occasion meal with friends or family. Menu is an eclectic mix of spanish with eastern European twists. Definitely recommend the game sausages.

Our server Mike was lovely but seemed overwhelmed by the party that had taken over the bar area. Great steak!

I came here for a birthday dinner and had a wonderful experience. We got complementary plantains chips to pick at until we ordered that were delicious. We ordered the rabbit sausage and cauliflower fritters. We loved the fritters; they were perfectly crispy and came with an amazing sauce. The ambience of the restaurant was amazing, beautiful, and well-lit. Our server was kind and very helpful. For mains, we ordered the mushroom risotto and chicharrone, both of which were great. We also received a chocolate torte on the house for the birthday. Overall, had an amazing time and would love to visit again!

The dinner we had was absolutely outstanding. The wild game sausage board was phenomenal, and the Mer et la Terre board was spectacular. Our pre-dinner drinks were also delicious. Their drink menu has changed from what's on their website: the Tequila Mockingbird has a perfectly balanced splash of watermelon juice in it, and there's a duck-fat-washed bourbon sour now which is just incredibly subtle and complex. We were there on a Thursday early evening, so it was relatively quiet which was lovely. Our host was warm and friendly and wonderful as well. The menu might not be right for everyone so definitely look it over beforehand. If you like what you see on the menu, I'm certain that you'll love the food that they serve you.
