   Very disappointed. Both protein entrees were overcooked and the steak was so salty. The duck was cooked well done although we didn’t get ask what temperature we would like. No bread available either, unlike the other restaurants we enjoyed in Asheville.

   We went to Bouchon to celebrate our anniversary. We had the Steak au Poivre and Beef Bourguignon. The beef in the Beef Bourguignon was tender and the broth very flavorful, but I was very disappointed that it included several large chunks of potatoes and not the traditional mashed potatoes. The steak was also tender and cooked as expected. We both had the chocolate mousse for dessert. The mouse itself was very good, but I felt there were several unnecessary additions (I'm a traditionalist). There was a chocolate sauce decorating the bottom of the plate, and also drizzled over the whipped cream on top of the mousse. On top of that there were chocolate chips sprinkled on one side.

   Didn’t seem to be a great night overall. Service was slow, but friendly. Smoke filled restaurant at one point. Food was good, just not great. I’d go back, just not with high expectations.

   I used to frequent this location when I lived in Asheville for sixteen years. The food was always wonderful as it was this time. My suggestion would be to remodel or redecorate the inside.
