The American steakhouse is an iconic restaurant institution. We’d wanted to tell that story for years, but waited until we had the skill, talent and ability to execute it properly, and the right space to be our canvas, an important corner in Little Italy, a neighborhood where we have deep roots. We brought an almost academic appreciation for steakhouse history and tradition to Born & Raised, while trying to stay relevant and authentic to ourselves and our city. Our dry-aged beef pays tribute to earlier, earthier, pre-government grading practices and is the centerpiece of a meal best savored at a slow pace. This review is purely for the New Year’s Eve pre-fix menu dining experience. We dine here every NYE and this was the first pre-fix menu we’ve experienced on this holiday. Unfortunately our experience was not good. The service was fantastic, as always. But the choice to do a pre-fix menu made our dining experience TERRIBLE. We had a party of 4 and our meal took over 3 HOURS before we were served dessert. We even arrived and were seated EARLY for our reservation (which was at 5pm) and we didn’t leave the restaurant until after 8pm. The portions of the food were disappointing for the price. The dining experience would have been so much better if there wasn’t a pre-fix menu. I normally would give the restaurant 5 stars since we dine here every NYE and multiple times throughout the year, but sadly we won’t be back next year if there is another pre-fix menu on the holiday. The staff, service, and ambiance were great though.

Celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday here. Immaculate vibes, amazing food, and friendly services. Definitely worth going and revisiting! If you’re in San Diego and you want to have a nice lil steak for dinner, 100% recommending this place!!

This restaurant never disappoints, I invited my best friend and her husband to celebrate her birthday 🎂 they absolutely loved it. They are already planning to come back very soon!

This restaurant has incredible food, wonderful service and is our favorite place to dine for business or with friends. The bathrooms are upstairs and gender neutral which is the only thing that doesn't fit this elegant environment.

Didn’t find the food or cocktails to be anything special or memorable at all. (Especially for the price) The Kobe beef was nice. The Art Deco style was nice. Overall it felt like a big swing and a miss. Overhyped and overpriced. Our entire party was super letdown by the dinner. All we could do is laugh at that point.

Great food; we enjoyed very flavorful filet and NY steaks along with roasted mushrooms and broccolini in a Calabrian pepper sauce, all excellent. Fantastic carrot cake for dessert. Good cocktails, impressive wine list but with a high mark-up. Be prepared; everything is quite expensive. It’s a beautiful room. Excellent service.

I had a special occasion dinner and felt that the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, but not only that, the meal was incredible and very memorable. Great place to celebrate something special!
