We went to Boriken and it was packed! Good sign. Service was slow due to them missing a person in the back. We order a couple of the tender steak with garlicky sauce. The steak looked boiled or poached. It lacked flavor without the sauce. It was dry and not tender. The side of yellow rice was not warm. The chicken monfongo (sp) that we ordered was very good. Dish was very tasty. Would order again if we go back. Food is authentic and perhaps if it wasn’t so busy and lacking staff the food would have been better. I give kudos to the host and waiter. They did a good job taking care of everyone.

My brother and I are Puerto Rican and tried an array of dishes. The appetizers - papas rellenos, alcapurrias, plantains were all perfect. Overall every dish we tried was very flavorful. The breaded steak and pork dishes were also well prepared in the tradition. The only disappointment was that the coffee machine was not working. Great food at a good price in small but warm decorated venue. Highly recommend it.

This was my first experience with this cuisine. The server pleasantly explained about the condiments and suggested, when asked, traditional dishes to try. My wife had the Mofongo and I had the steak with onions. Both dishes tasted great and portions were generous. Steak & Onions may sound pedestrian, but the magic is in the preparation. Borikén is a pleasant and welcoming place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. We will definitely return.

We were in town for an event and chose this because neither of us had ever been to a Puerto Rican restaurant. Everything was very delicious, the service was great. Laid back atmosphere.

Food was too salty and seemed pre-made (not fresh). Not spoiled just not recently prepared. Server/host seemed annoyed that we were there and that my guest asked a few questions. Location was difficult to find as there us no signage on Canyon.

First time eating Puerto Rican food. The mofongo was our favorite by far. The chicken and rice can be skipped. The steak in vinegar also surprisingly delicious. Would come back. Hope the snapper is available next time because we really wanted to try the fish too.
