   Our waitress added another table’s bill to ours. When she realized her mistake she grabbed the signed receipt out of my friend’s hand. She came back a second time and it was still not right. Not once, until we mentioned it to the manager, did she apologize. The manager attempted to explain the problem as it had already posted to my friend’s card. I would have thought he should have offered her a gift card for the huge mixup, but nothing. The food was subpar. Won’t be going back.

   We dined at Birch’s for lunch. There were four of us. The dining room and view of the lake was beautiful as always, but the prices on the limited lunch menu were outrageous…very overpriced! $23 for a salad! I ordered a bowl of the beer cheese soup and asked if there was a dinner roll or some kind of bread, cracker that I could also get. I was told the only thing was the charcuterie tray! It had meats etc as well as the crackers for a price of $23! I said no thanks. My husband ordered the corned beef sandwich ($24). It was not edible. He normally never complains about food but he literally could not bite the meat! It was so tough. We called the server over and he then ordered the burger ($23) That was ok and edible. Our friends ordered the corned beef and his was ok, and the beer cheese soup, also ok. We have been here before but this time was particularly expensive, the choices poor and the taste, value very poor. We went downstairs at 3:00 and had a few cocktails since it was happy hour…the happy hour food menu was definitely more affordable. If we return we will choose the option of downstairs at happy hour and see how that goes.

   Very nice appearing restaurant. Food was tasty but not exceptional. The room temperature was so cold we had to keep our coats on. Don't think we would go back.

    Overall very nice dining experience at Birch's with views of the fall colors around the lake. Next time I will ask for seating not in sight of the bar TV which was very distracting. We enjoyed the short rib and duck breast entrees, each of which had lovely presentations. We were pleased to see creative mocktails on the bar menu.
