Bata is a restaurant designed to celebrate the best our region has to offer. We cook over a live oak fire, on our custom fabricated hearth. Our menu changes daily. We mill AZ grown grain in house, daily. We focus on whole animal butchery, done in house. We have an extensive fermentation program. Our bar program largely focuses on wines that are organic, biodynamic, and produced with minimal intervention. The cocktail list highlights the best products of the season, with a carefully curated list of spirits from across the globe. We believe that our hospitality is just as important as the food and beverages we put on the table.

We do not encourage our restaurant for young children. We do not have any highchairs in house and ask that you please bring your own if it is required.

We do not offer any outdoor seating. Private dining, kitchen counter and large party seating available. Email hello@batatucson.com for inquiries.

My only complaint is that we were celebrating two birthdays and I had a conversation with the manager prior to being sitted and he stated he would alert our waiter and unfortunately nothing was brought up or done for these special milestones

Enjoyable and unique dining experience. One of the most innovative menus in Tucson in a lively atmosphere. Attentive and knowledgeable servers. This was our second visit and certainly not our last

Clearly there is a lot of talent in the kitchen at Bata. And the service is very attentive. I'm not a professional cook but have been cooking at home for decades. For a Tucson restaurant, it's a bit pretentious. Actually, for any restaurant these days, it's a bit pretentious. These types of restaurants were popular in the 80's in NY and SF, which I frequented often. The menu (which changes regularly) had some interesting vegetable items. We ordered a mushroom appetizer, soft rolls, and beef carpaccio. The rolls were very good but nothing exceptional; those are fairly easy to make at home. The mushrooms (they may have been shitake) were tender, but only 5 small ones? The carpaccio dish should have tasted better. There was some sort of cream underneath the beef and an overabundance of oils and seasoning that heavily subtracted from the dish. There was no taste of the beef, which was tough btw. We ordered 2 glasses of rose wine (I believe there was only 1 rose choice on the menu). It was meh to be honest... You can buy a far better rose for $15-$20 at a good wine store. All the portions are very small. We left hungry and disappointed. Again, the service effort and cooking expertise are high at Bata. There's no doubt they are schooled. IMO, they need to get back to simplicity and let the flavors of the local food stand more on their own.

We loved BATA. Our excellent server gave us advice on how to order from the menu - small plates, shared with each other, great suggestions and explanations of the dishes themselves. Everything was delicious. The interior was lovely and even though the space has high ceilings, it wasn't too noisy for us to hear each other. Highly recommend.

We went with the chef's suggestions and were very pleased. The result was our favorite meal in our Tucson visit. We look forward to a future meal there too.
