Leisurely cafe by day, Bastia transforms to a Mediterranean restaurant by night and draws culinary inspiration from the sun-drenched islands of Corsica and Sardinia

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Tyler Akin

From the OpenTable editors: Acclaimed chef Tyler Akin is back with Bastia, his stylish Mediterranean restaurant inside Fishtown’s Anna & Bel hotel. Snag a seat at one of the green marble bar tops or at a cozy table by the fireplace to dig into seafood-forward dishes like sea urchin butter tartine paired with playful cocktails and riffs on classic aperitivi. Either way, the all-day cafe is made for lingering, just like his beloved and now-shuttered Res Ispa was.

Bastia was an excellent meal. The cocktail selection was great and the menu was just enough to have options but not too much that you couldn't choose :). Thank you team - a great one we'll be back for.

This place is 100% worth the hype. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and surprising. We had a few small plates, entrees, and cocktails and there was literally nothing we didn’t love, which is rare. The Not Your Caffe Normale was maybe my favorite version of an espresso martini that I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many!). My fiancé tried the Isle of Beauty, which is kind of their version of an Old Fashioned. I don’t typically like Old Fashions but even I liked this cocktail. The focaccia was a standout from the bread service. Their menu changes seasonally, but I really don’t think you can go wrong.

I enjoyed the experience a great deal. The ambiance is gorgeous. The service was great. We didn’t feel rushed through our meal. The dishes served were unique and tasty. I loved the skate cheeks and would return for them alone.

Best upcoming restaurant! We had dinner reservation at 9:30 PM and the food was still so phenomenal and our server recommended all of his favorite food and we ordered every single one of them and I don’t regret it. Get the skate cheeks!!!!

Have had dinner here and this was my first lunch. Great food and awesome server, but some issues with the delivery of food and drink. Prob waited 15 min for coffee, which was delivered by a runner with nothing (no sugar. cream, or spoon to stir), and tea my partner orderd arrived several minutes later.

This was one of the best meals we've had in recent months in Philadelphia. We know the Bastia folks from one of our old favorites--Res Ipsa--and had heard good things about this place, tucked inside an unassuming, cool boutique hotel in Fishtown. Great atmosphere and ambiance, outstanding service from start to finish, creative cocktails and lots of nicely plated selections to choose from. Our party of four shared all four first course choices, shared a pasta dish, and then had the swordfish and duck entrees (both fantastic). Topped by good desserts and coffee choices. We'll definitely be back...and must admit the idea of a staycation night in the hotel is pretty inviting.
