Thought I'd try the small plates in Barossa Bar as the Cairns was closed on the Thursday. £18 fir 3 small plates which is good value. Fish cakes, dirty fries and the chicken were all lovely. Waitress could have been a bit more attentive but on the whole a nice catch up with a close friend.

Lovely afternoon tea but felt a little forgotten about, we sat outside as it was a lovely sunny day, no one came out to check that everything was ok, no one came to ask if we needed anymore drinks. We had to ask for more tea. We probably would have stayed longer and ordered more drinks if our table had been cleared afterwards, the wasps were intrigued with the sweet leftover offerings which we would have asked to take home with us but unfortunately they got there first and became a nuisance.

We arrived in plenty of time, we sat down at 7.15 and ordered within 5 minutes. The bartenders were very attentive. Absolutely no issues with them at all. My starter took 45 minutes to arrive. The Manager recognised this and deducted the starter from our bill. When the main courses arrived, the contents were sparse with no refinement on presentation. Definitely not value for money. My dessert was very similar. I was disappointed overall, such a beautiful building but no ambience at all. There was a celebrity staying at the hotel who happened to be dining in the neighbouring restaurant and can only assume that his party received priority treatment by the kitchen.

The bar is well decorated with comfortable furniture. The service was extremely slow and we weren’t asked if we’d like a drink before ordering. The food was very nice but we waited a long time for it. The staff were very friendly and we felt sorry for them as they had to deal with a situation that was out of their control.

Decent afternoon tea but no vegetarian options. Forgot the champagne that was booked. Poor customer service by bar staff.

Brilliant service, very professional. Fantastic food with steaks being cooked to perfection. Nothing was too much trouble, and they finished off the evening with a surprise birthday celebration dessert. Beautiful.
