Avli in suburban Winnetka has been a Chicagoland favorite since 2009 offering guests contemporary and classic Greek small plates, mains, and desserts as well as approachable Greek wines and inventive cocktails.

    Food was good. Ordered the soup- mediocre at best. The spanakopita was recommended by our waiter and it was delicious! We also had the pork souvlaki and it was good. The diana salad was really good-- great flavors. My husband and I split lamb shank and it was one of our favorites. The potatoes were slightly undercooked. Overall- rating B.

    Refusing to prepare separate checks for two diners? The food isn’t good enough to outweigh the lack of flexibility. Sorry. I’m done with this restaurant.

    Food very good from their new chef. But that chef took some Greek standards off the menu (taramasalata, skordalia) that I missed. Kinda like going to McDonalds and they're not serving hamburgers this month.

    Stopped here once before at the bar before a play at the Writers Theater and had apps and drinks. We enjoyed it so much we decided to stop for dinner before another play. It did not disappoint. We ordered trio of dips from Apps, octopus, spinach pie, feta shrimp and flaming cheese from small plates, beet salad, lemon soup, Greek salad and moussaka from entrees and they were all delicious. Fun to share plates and enjoy. Service and cocktails were great. Can't wait to return.

    Avli is a neighborhood favorite. We've been coming here forever. So... they have a new chef, and many of our favorites have been updated or removed. All good! Last night the food was better than ever. Especially the Poseidon plate--fantastic-!!- and big enough to share. But we do miss the taramasalata. Hope they bring that back. Great service.
