We adhere to the craftsmanship of traditional Japanese cuisine. Chef Kenkichi Yamamoto handpicks the freshest ingredients of the season, using them to inspire the creation of all his dishes. Our kaiseki prix fixe menu has traditional Japanese flavors mixed with french elements featuring shun (seasonal) ingredients. The 9 courses range from the chef's interpretation of sashimi to unique steamed, boiled and grilled dishes. We have seasonal fish and fish offerings traditionally found in Japanese cuisine as well as other dishes to order a la carte. The menu is set for you to experience a dinning experience like no other. I felt like I had taken a trip to Japan. The food, the service, the care taken, made me realize the difference between going for sushi at my local joint and having a dining experience at Asuka.

This was pre-geffen dining. Food was good, but a bit expensive for what it was. Service was great, but it wasn’t crowded at opening. The decor is very elegant. Good but not good enough to bring us back for pre-geffen dining.

The quality of the fish was unlike anything I have experienced in the last 20 years. Having frequented many restaurants from Tokyo to Paris to London to NYC and, of course, the Bay Area serving sushi and sashimi, the quality and grade of the fish and, more importantly, the skill and expertise of the chefs was indescribably high. The hamachi and toro melted on the tongue and there was not a hint of ice nor prior freezing. At one point the owner came over to check on us, which I thought was very classy and diligent despite my family being the only ones in the restaurant at the opening hour. The staff were uber professional and attentive. At the risk of making this one of the best Japanese restaurants to visit and making it impossible to secure a future reservation, I cannot recommend Asuka strongly enough! 10 stars on a 5 star scale!

Every bite was super delicious and worthy of its Michelin status… we had the chef’s special omakase. Service was equally excellent.
