While the sushi was very good, the dinner entrees were average. Halibut was obviously frozen and had no texture or flavor. Prices were also very high including a $16 fruit juice 'mocktail' for our son. Wouldn't go again for a special occasion.

This was a good dining experience but not extraordinary. We had the rock appetizer which was wagyu beef slices that you cook on a hot rock with side sauces for dipping — fun and tasty. The other app was tuna on skewers also with dipping sauces that was mediocre. The tuna was cubed in small bites and just not that yummy.l although the two sauces were good in themselves. For the mains we had 2 fish dishes. The miso cod was is a salty truffle broth with yummy root vegetables so it felt like comfort food and was very good. The halibut was served on under flavored black rice but neither the halibut nor the rice had much seasoning and the bite texture was pretty stodgy. We both thought they forgot some essential spices and a sauce to make the dish good. We put the fish in the miso broth in order to flavor it ourselves and left the black rice altogether. Servers were friendly but kept trying to take our plates before we had finished which is annoying. Last note was that sitting by the windows is drafty and chilly.

This was disappointing. The rice was salty like in a pub. Two thirds of the group couldn’t finish our modest amounts of sushi. A couple people turned away more than a roll even though they were hungry. The waiter (Depak ) was good.

Started off badly, got worse When I booked the New Year’s Eve dinner for my family (wife, son and me), OneTable asked whether or not I wanted the $140/person Prix Fixe and I responded No. I checked the day after I completed the booking and it still said No. But when we were seated we were given the Prix Fixe menu, so I asked the server for the regulation menu. He said, we only have Prix Fixe on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day so OneTable was wrong. Resigned to Prix Fixe, we made our choices from the meager selections. The starter was the tiniest oyster I’d ever seen, with four or five tiny cavier eggs on top. Next we had spicy tuna rolls. We came to the Bay Area from Tokyo 14 years ago, and spicy tuna is not Japanese. But we all ordered it because the vegetarian roll looked sad. Next we had consommé, which was OK but it said “Consume” on the menu. For this price one would expect spell checking. The consommé was nice, but no better than the Knorr instant consommé we buy at the supermarket in Japantown. Wife and son had pork belly, which was so-so. I can’t eat pork, so I had the “Wafu” (Japanese style) pasta. It was not Wafu. It was just fettuccine flavored with cream sauce and a little olive oil—too rich, not Wafu, and it gave me an upset stomach. And it was highway robbery—the main dish for a $140/person dinner?? In the end wife and son had chocolate lava cake and I had pumpkin panna cotta. The pumpkin pudding was OK. The lava cake was not—it was just a chocolate cupcake scooped out with bitter, partially melted bitter chocolate in the middle. To have a bee sting on a crying face (how we say, “Add insult to injury”) service was extremely slow. We had to wait at least 15-20 minutes between each tiny serving. Then at the end, the check ALREADY ADDED a 20% Service Charge, and left a blank for Additional Tip. I understand adding the tip in advance for a large group, but we were only three people. If I could I would have reduced the tip to 18%…
