Amina is an absolute gem where every dish bursts with flavor and heritage, blending African and African American traditions into unforgettable creations. I’ve visited twice and it was incredible both times. The fried chicken is perfectly crispy and juicy, paired with honey-drizzled cornbread that melts in your mouth, while the collard greens and jollof rice deliver soulful, bold flavors. Starters like black-eyed pea fritters and oxtail stew are rich and deeply satisfying. Desserts are finger licking good with the spiced sweetness of the sweet potato pie and the indulgence of peach cobbler. At Amina, every bite is seasoned to perfection, making it a must-visit if you want love great food.

This was the first time that I dinned at this restaurant and I felt let down by the quality of the food and the service I received. The cabbage I ordered looked and tasted terrible. I ordered their sweet potatoes and they they just brought them to my table undone and then the manager insisted that I pay for them after telling me oh we ran out of the ingredients that goes in them. I was completely in shock of the unprofessionalism. I would not recommend any of my family or friends or anyone to come here just to experience the same!

The location of the restaurant is perfect. We traveled from Princeton to have dinner with friend. Ended up saving the corn creme brule for desert. There was way too much cheese in the cheese steak appetizer. Could not taste the meat nor bread. The gumbo would have been better served with dungeness crab instead of snow crab (salty). The lamb was awesome but didn't need any sugar added. Overall we found the menu to be good but would be better if there's little to no sugar.

I always like to taste each food component individually. The individual bites were very good. When combined together, the flavors and textures came together in an amazing and unusually great way. While in Philly, I went to a few restaurants that were James Beard Award recipients. Of all of the restaurants I visited, AMINA would be the first on my list to revisit. I love the creative twists and pleasant surprises in each dish. Also, the wait staff was very attentive and quite helpful as we took our leftovers back to our hotel.
