   Amalfi has great food! Homemade pastas and outstanding bread/award winning crust on their pizzas. Eggplant parm is out of this world….and Sunday’s they have live music outside (and heaters!)

   The first time we went two months ago, everything was great. Very disappointed last night. We told the server upfront that we’re gluten-free. When I ordered the artichoke heart appetizer, I asked for gluten-free. He said “done and done.” When the appetizer showed up there was bread on the plate. When I got a chance to ask the server if it was gluten-free bread, he just said no and walked away. After our food arrived, I was a little concerned that our main dish was gluten-free, since the appetizer showed up NOT gluten-free. When I asked him, he said oh you’re waiting on the pesto dish. I had no idea what he was talking about, but apparently they had delivered the wrong food. We had already started eating, but he claimed it was all gluten-free. Right then the pesto dish showed up, and he took my plate and passed it across the table to my husband, saying it was his dish, and the dish that my husband had started eating was a mistake. What if I had been eating with a coworker, or it was a first date? You pass food that’s already been partially eaten on to another person? Plus the general attitude was very cavalier as to our being gluten-free. So far, no issues, so hoping that everything was truly gluten-free. The restaurant seemed to be way understaffed. Our server was waiting on probably 16 to 18 tables with lots of helpers, but service was not great. Sadly we were celebrating our anniversary. Won’t be back.

   We requested the reservation to celebrate the birthday of family member while we all were on vacation. The reservation was made two months in advance and under “special requests” were asked for ocean view. The restaurant does not have an ocean view. We were not told this until arrival.We considered canceling but were not sure whether the fault was the restaurant or Open Table. Plus, it might be hard to get a new reservation at the last minute on a Saturday night. Therefore we decided to stay even though our special request had been ignored. The overall result was satisfactory. The food was excellent as was the service. So all’s well that ends well, I guess. Moral of the story: don’t bother with special requests on Open Table. If you need something special contact the restaurant directly and request it. I don’t think that most restaurants would lie directly to you on the phone. If they did I would feel comfortable canceling at the last minute in that case.

   Mixed Experience - Things started out well. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Nice wine list and menu. Note: no liquor, great wine selection and some beer. the food selections looked good and they had some nice specials too. We started off with sparkling rose and a beet salad. Both were delivered quickly and were very nice. While waiting for our entrees, we asked for water refills and some bread. While our server was around, he seemed to be ignoring our table, although he was at other table around us often. When the entrees came, my wife;s eggplant parm was no hot. In fact not even warm. We couldn't get our server's attention (he never came by to ask how our entree were), so we flagged some a bus boy, who took the eggplant back. We resist sending something back but had to this time. Anyway, I got to eat while my wife waited...and waited. Finally, our server stopped and asked what was going on. He claimed he had asked someone else to take care of us and they dropped the ball. We finally got the eggplant just about the time I was done with my Ciopinno (which was good except for a few very off-tasting mussels). The server was apologetic, the owner stopped by. They brought us wine refills (already had two glasses...glad I wasn't driving) on the house. Again we waited for the check and when we asked for it, the server said "no dessert? The place is a new location for them and maybe they are still getting the kinks worked out. I would be willing to give them another chance as the food was pretty good and it's convenient to where we stay when we are in O side.

    Worth trying. Food needs some help. Ordered. Bottle of champagne, not avail able. 3 of the 4 of us ordered the clams and mussels, not available. And that was on a Friday night.Lasagna arrived barely warm. Great location. Hope the kitchen improves with time. Good Luck!
