Kind staff, good service and quality of food was as expected at an Alo restaurant. Two of my dishes were significantly more spicy than expected—suggest more proactive communication to guests when ordering specific dishes. They took our feedback on the spot which was nice. Otherwise great location, and good vibe.

Hi, Marcello! Thank you very much for taking the time to send us this feedback. We take food and service very seriously and we appreciate all of the opportunities to improve. we will certainly address the spice levels of the food in the future. I will follow up with you privately to address this as well.

Short rib needs to come back. Wasn’t a huge fan of the new calamari on the menu and the 2 seater booth is tight for two giants (6’3”). Either way, I’ll be back next week.
    Aloette BayResponded 4 days ago
Hi, Chris! We love the short rib too! We will make sure you are the first to know if we bring it back. I have made a note in your profile that you would prefer a different seating option with a bit more leg room. Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate any opportunity to improve!

Five stars for service! Servers were attentive without being intrusive - fantastic! We started with the halloumi w olives and two wedge salads to share. Both apps were flavorful and unique. Our mains included the house burger with fries, scallops, fried chicken and the special burger which featured wagyu beef with truffle. These arrived at a well paced interval. Everyone shared a little of their entree to enthusiastic reviews. So why only four stars for the food? Well the highly touted lemon meringue pie was a definite disappointment. There was some kind of an odd aftertaste in the flavor profile. Not sure if it was the crust or the lemon filling, but it was definitely off. Luckily we also ordered the carrot cake. It was exceptional! Atmosphere? When we arrived the rap music playing in the space was so loud we could not hold a conversation. We asked for the music to be turned down. The rap was changed to something much more mellow and the volume was turned down. That’s great service! We found the corkage fee to be high - $50 - for a restaurant that’s part of the “food court” i.e. you have to go out in the hallway to use the restroom. But, the servers were attentive in this area as well - coming by our table to top up glasses when needed. Communication prior to our evening advised the restaurant that we were celebrating a birthday. Nothing was done to acknowledge or recognize the occasion. Maybe going with a different playlist and lowering the volume was the best they could do.
    Aloette BayResponded 5 days ago
Hi, Lori! I am so sorry we missed your birthday and the the lemon pie did not meet your expectations! We take food and service very seriously and this is a huge oversight on our part. Please accept my deepest apologies! I appreciate that everything else helped to brighten the experience but I would love if you gave us another chance to give you an experience that is much closer to perfect. Please reach out to us directly when you plan to visit next. I will send you a private message with details on how to do so. Thank you so much for choosing Aloette bay.

To Whom It May Concern, It was not what I expected. Unfortunately the burger was super undercooked almost raw. I was expecting it to be much better. The oysters were fabulous and service was excellent. However, I was very upset to come home with the replacement burger to find out there was a hair inside the patty. I have been to Alo for the tasting menu with my husband for our Anniversary and it was fabulous, so I hope you can understand that this might be a one time situation. It was just not up to the standard I was expecting and it was disappointing, because I was meeting my mother for the first time in several months. I hope this finds you well! I work at CIBC Square and would appreciate if I can have another chance to try the restaurant. Sincerely, Melanie

Kay and her team were excellent as usual. They even served a few extra apps and dessert on the house. We had a great dining experience. The steak and scallops were great options. I ordered the octopus appetizer again and it was delicious. Though this restaurant is priced steeper compared to similar establishments and the layout is not ideal. However, overall, given the food and service, I highly recommend this spot.

The staff was great. The fried chicken had more crispy breading than chicken. The burger was a better value. The crispy sweet potato was especially delicious. I don't know if we were just seated too closely to the speakers but we felt the music was too loud. The menu could have used some salad options. Overall, it was okay but didn't meet my expectations.
Aloette BayResponded on 14 November 2024
Hi, Nancy. Thank you for all of your feedback! we really appreciate every opportunity to improve. I have shared your comments with the kitchen and they have taken it on board. I have also taken the time to adjust the music as sometimes we don't realize how much louder it can be in certain spots. Again, thank you for bringing all of this to our attention.

The food was good, however, the banquette they provided for 6 adults was far too small, suitable for children. Being crushed together into this type of seating made the meal and overall experience poor.
Aloette BayResponded on 8 November 2024
Hi, John. I regret that your seating arrangement left you dissatisfied during your visit last night. We do our best to find the right seating for all of our guests but we clearly missed the mark with your group. I would love to have you visit us again in a different seating arrangement to make it up to you. Please reach out to us so that we can arrange for that.
