From the OpenTable editors: Chef Johnny Curiel grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, and started washing dishes in his dad’s restaurant at age 14. Today, the Michelin Guide considers him the best young chef in Colorado and awarded one star to his first solo restaurant Alma Fonda Fina. In a light-filled corner space filled with warm ceramics and woven textiles, he puts out soulful and modern Mexican fare—think seared hamachi aguachile, lamb shank birria, and tacos folded with a 12-hour brisket confit.

We invite guests to relax in a space accented by reclaimed wood, — sourced from the oldest building in Denver — clay-inspired wall treatment, an abundance of plants that evoke the feeling of Mexico City, and artisan finds from Johnny’s home state of Guadalajara.

    Amazing experience. The food was phenomenal, amazing prices as well. But honestly the best was the staff and their love for the food. William was such a vibe and I can't wait to go back and try more! Thank you so much for a great experience, I wi be back

    Everything was delicious! The tuna tostada was great and the fish was amazing! Our kid loved his tacos and normally likes them plain but loved the way they made them. I highly recommend this place.

    Our waiter was just the right balance of informative and friendly without spending too much time giving us a PhD level course in the menu. The food was amazing as were the cocktails. Definitely try the Mexican wines from the wine list as they made excellent choices. Highly recommend literally everything about the restaurant to other diners.

    Cannot go wrong with any dish, but the birria borrego is spectacular. Same as the avocado margarita. Service was excellent.

    The food and drinks were all amazing as was was the service. The restaurant is small in general so you can hear you neighbors conversation’s but it’s not densely packed. I highly recommend trying Alma Fonda Fina for the exceptional food, my wife and I loved the avocado margarita, sweet potato dish, scallops, and the beef taco.
