Tamburlaine’s bustling Bar and Restaurant draws a crowd from early morning until the early hours. A dramatic carved marble bar takes centre stage in the large, elegant Brasserie-style dining room with its accents of soft leather, gleaming brass and salvaged timber. Menus are constantly changing but food is always simple, seasonal, locally sourced and prepared to the exacting standards of our Head Chef. Fine wines, chilled champagne and craft beers are always in season. As are Tamburlaine’s legendary cocktails, prepared by our resident mixologist. Guests looking for quiet time to work or relax tend to gather in The Library.

Sandwiches were clearly frozen before hand as they were so cold. Scones were nice but cakes seemed a bit on the cheap side. Sugar was in paper sachets not lumps. Was not served in the garden Room either but in a side room at the front. Not great I'm afraid.

For the money the service could have been better, the views more interesting and the sandwiches fresher

Wonderful afternoon tea for my nans 80th birthday. The selection of tea was lovely and was pleased it was tea leaves and not tea bags! The service was 10/10, friendly, welcoming, attentive staff. Beautiful setting and the food was delicious.

We were in the coffeee shop, don’t know if this is the afternoon tea lounge. The waitress was very good even if she was the only one there and a bit busy. The sandwiches were very basic, scones were nice, cake very exotic - not quite English afternoon tea cakes.

Lovely afternoon tea, beautiful decor, staff attentive and happy. It was quiet but it was Friday afternoon. Hoping more people start going to the Tamburlaine as it’s a lovely place, the bar is amazing as are the cocktails.

very poor indeed! were not seated in the room i booked for Afternoon tea. Was told that room was reserved for a private function. they stuck us on tables in the bar area eventhough the restaurant was empty. Sandwiches were dry! Service was not very attentive and main issue is they over charged us. When the bill came we were over charged in comparison to what was published on the website. I complained and was told nothing could be done about it. i didn't want to cause a scene at our special event and ruin it for my friend so we paid. Won't be back there again and won't recommend others to go!

Afternoon tea was served in the garden room which looked lovely. The service was very attentive and the food was excellent although the tea was weaker than we would normally take it. It was very noisy due to two party groups present and quite difficult to hear each other speak at times.

We had gone for afternoon tea for our birthday and had stated that one of us was vegetarian and the other was pescatarian on our notes when placing the booking. We were greeted by the restaurant manager who referred to our booking and we mentioned again our requirements and she fully understood this. We sat down and was greeted by the waitress who was very pleasant and offered us the tea menu which was amazing, however when bringing out the sandwiches, both sandwiches appeared with meat on them. When we spotted this, she apologized and went back to the kitchen. We then had to wait another 20 minutes for the sandwiches to come out. The Pescatarian came first and had one tiny piece of rocket with the salmon, then the vegan sandwiches came out. All 4 sandwiches were cream cheese and cucumber. All 4! Considering this is a 5* hotel, this was ridiculous to pay £22.50 for 4 of the same simple sandwiches and on top of that, the bread was stale. We made another complaint about the bread and 20 minutes went by and we were given brand new sandwiches. The vegan sandwiches had changed with a selection of sandwich fillings that were much better, after approaching the waitress to explain it was ridiculous I was paying £22.50 for the same sandwiches I could make at home. The bread was still stale, but after 3 attempts of getting sandwiches we just gave up. The Manager of the restaurant was very sweet and her customer service was outstanding. She came over and apologised about the mix up, offered us some champagne or mocktails (we were over the whole experience and just wanted to leave), gave us her business card and said that the afternoon tea was on the house. The whole experience was dreadful, I would never recommend this place to anyone. It is a shame as the manager's customer service was really good, however the whole experience was just ruined.
