We loved the hotel but were a little taken aback when we were seated at couches and a coffee table instead of a normal dining table. We had afternoon tea and were very well taken care of. We only wondered about seating, but all in all it was a fun experience.

Like most afternoon tea, the emphasis is on the cakes which in general were very good, but overwhelmed the balance of savoury to sweet. The 3 finger sandwiches each did not make an appealing, nor attractive to the eye, savoury section. The addition of a pastry such as a mini sausage roll, mini pork pie or canape styled savoury would be a welcomed addition and elevated the whole tea. Finally the monster of a scone was not appealing and two much smaller scones each would have been more attractive to the eye and given the diner the choice of a more manageable finish to the afternoon tea. We enjoyed it but just found it not to be well balanced.

We were celebrating my mother's 85th birthday and were delighted with our afternoon tea at Skeabost House Hotel - it was superb! The sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious and plentiful. The staff from youngest to oldest were so friendly and helpful. We had a very relaxing time and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. We will be back and have no hesitation in recommending the Skeabost House Hotel.

We had a wonderful time at the beautiful Skeabost House for afternoon tea! They served us tea in the lounge, seated before a crackling fire. The comfortable, plush setting was just perfect and the staff are wonderfully attentive. After a long day of sightseeing and crowds on Skye, luxuriating over a pot of tea and tiers of yummy treats was so relaxing and rejuvenating. We arranged tea for 4PM and after 2 hours spent chatting and eating, we were happy to have it be an early dinner. One of our party is gluten-free and the kitchen readily accommodated that and provided an outstanding selection of sandwiches and treats. Best of all were the GF scones which were warm and moist - perfect for jam and cream. Gluten-free scones can be quite variable and disappointing, but Skeabost House gets high marks for theirs. Well done! We will definitely include tea at Skeabost House the next time we are on Skye. (Note - we were not staying at the hotel, and reserved tea online. We confirmed the GF request in advance and received a very timely response from the hotel’s customer service.) A highlight of our trip!
