I used to really enjoy eating at 224; it felt like a neighborhood gem. The staff that we dealt with were, let's say, unenthusiastic; maybe it's the season. The food and service were good, but the noise from the kitchen and the constant action were a disturbance. I'll give it another chance at some point, but there are so many other restaurants out there that want my business, or do a better job of acting like they do.

The server included 20% tip on the bill without notifying us. I have never gone to a restaurant where the server doesn’t notify the table of an already included tip.

We were really looking forward to our brunch. We were greeted by a woman who turned out to be our server who was monumentally ungracious and unfriendly. When we asked about a word on the menu, she said, and I quote, “ I didn’t write it”. She didn’t check on us or refill water glasses when they were empty. The food was OK but not terrific today. There was a lot of food left on people’s plates and she never asked if anything wrong. I would never want to be waited on again by her at any restaurant.
