Set in the picturesque village of Fyfield, The White Hart is the ultimate country pub and offers one of the finest foodie dining experiences in the county. Housed in a stunning 15th century chantry, customers can choose to eat under the soaring eaves of the great hall, up high in the minstrel's gallery, in the cosy bar by the fire or on the beautiful patio terrace. With a passion for provenance, the kitchen sources food from the very best local suppliers and grow much of their own fruit and vegetables. Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.

The Fishes is a hidden gem. Quite a big gem, too. An imposing Victorian building set in acres of wooded grounds leading down to the banks of Seacourt Stream. The deck that wraps around the conservatory offers a rare opportunity in land-locked Oxford to dine outside with an idyllic view. In recognition of this, the Fishes was named Al Fresco Dining Pub of the Year in 2006, as well winner of The Public Vote in Oxfordshire Restaurant awards 2012 making it one of the best restaurants in Oxford.

I ate here 12 years ago. It was so memorable I had to go back during my first time visiting London since then. And it was even better. Than the memory. That is rare. I have never had venison as tender as wagyu beef before. I feel connected with the ‘āina, as we say in Hawaiian, through this food. A meal at Harwood Arms is akin to a ramble in the countryside, and a bit of a history lesson to boot. Chestnut soup with a surprise of chestnut mushrooms at the bottom—it made me chuckle!

Couldn’t have chose a better restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Anastasia was our personal host. She greeted us with a smile and she went above and beyond. The staff was friendly and professional - the food and drinks were exquisite. Some of our favourites were: crispy rice with guacamole and truffle as well as cauliflower bang bang taco. Also, the panacota was top notch. We will be coming back!

The menu wasn't that flexible for lunch options. However excellent service to accommodate an allergy from the chef and staff. Large open space, plenty of parking, quiet and good ambience.
