- PHPrincetonHKNewcastle and Northumberland •8 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoOut of 10 stars I would rate this place 100*. One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. 🎉 In summary.. - amazing steak & sides - Blacklock red wine that perfectly complements steak - beautiful, warm venue - flawless service - extraordinary value We both had ribeyes perfectly cooked to medium & medium rare. Tender, juicy, tasty and near perfect seasoning. There's a smoky flavour that you rarely experience in the UK but is a signature for high-end US steakhouses. Either way another added dimension of great flavour. A kale/parmesan side dish provided a great contrast to the steak. The sweet potato another solid side. Our wine was the Blacklock Syrah red which is a wine clearly designed by God for steak. I'm not a expert but it had a perfect acidity to cut through the fattiness of the ribeye and refresh the palate with every sip. 🍷 Lovely dining atmosphere that would work whether you're with friends, family, business, date-night or dining alone. Even the table spacing was just right. Glassware on the table is also interesting and unique. It's all this attention to detail that just keeps adding to the experience. The service was flawless. Attentive, informed with a relaxed friendliness. As I'm sure many others have remarked the pricing & value of Blacklock is truly extraordinary. Normally you get great food, service, wine & venue but then pay through the nose for it. Not at Blacklock. Blacklock seems to harken back to an old-school community capitalism with a conscience. Let's create an amazing experience, treat our people well so they in turn treat our customers well. And then price it in a way that is comfortably sustainable for the enterprise while allowing as many in our community as possible to be part of the experience. Beautiful. 🙌 Bravo Blacklock. You told us you put the restaurant in a basement because you set out to become a 'destination restaurant.' From where we sat & ate you definitely achieved that.More infoBlacklock ManchesterPrice: Expensive• Steak• Manchester•4.8
- AAdrianManchester/Greater Manchester •16 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoFirst time here after reading reviews. We were there on a November Saturday evening and it was full. We had a window table with a good view across the Manchester skyline. Noticed a large outdoor terrace too which would make it a very pleasant place to dine at lunchtime or on a summer evening. Ambiance very pleasant although the music was on the loud side. We're in our 60s and were the oldest diners there - so perhaps we're not the target crowd. Food was very very good. Beef tartare and the Lord of the Hundreds Gougeres were both absolutely divine, but that doesn't take away from the quality of the remaining food either and the prices were very reasonable for a high end establishment. We'll certainly go back. There was much Instagram-ing of food and venue going on from the younger diners! If I had any gripes at all it would be that the service felt a little rushed. It's in the nature of a small plates venue that food comes out as and when it's ready, but we ordered mostly small plates with a main to share and after only about 35-40 minutes we'd bee served (and eaten) everything but the main, so we could easily have been out within an hour, which doesn't really make for a romantic birthday meal (which this was). Also, I was asked when I booked if it was a special occasion so I said it was my partner's birthday. When we ordered a dessert to share it was brought out with a single, very cheap-looking candle in the middle. Like you'd buy in bulk and use on buns at a kids' party. It certainly didn't feel special. In fact we both laughed at the absurdity of it! These were all minor issues though and the overall evening was very enjoyable with some spectacularly-good food.More infoClimatPrice: Very Expensive• Modern European• Manchester•4.6
