Best Restaurants for Special Occasions in West Chicago

My wife and I tried this excellent restaurant for the first time Feb 15th. They had their regular menu and an expertly selected prix fix menu for Valentines weekend. It was def a great value with 3 choices for each setting, appetizer, soup or salad, entree and dessert. We will now have to come back to try the regular menu as there were so many steak and seafood choices. The waitress said they have a special menu every Friday to try as well. Really delicious dinner. We had their regular menu filets with lobster, whipped potatoes, asparagus, bacon Brussels sprouts and choc angel food cake.

This was our first time there. It is is very beautiful restaurants. We were greeted with a warm welcome and were seated promptly. The tables are set so as not to make you feel crowded. We ordered the almond crusted bread as our starter. It was nicely prepared and well presented. We each ordered a side Ceasar salad. Unfortunately, there was not much to it and could have easily been skipped. In fact, my guest sent hers back as it was very pedestrian. I ordered the lobster crusted filet 'special' and my guest ordered the Diablo pasta! Both were served hot, were very tasty and elegantly presented. We shared the strawberry mousse cake for dessert. It was very decadent! We did not order alcohol, and we got the sense that we were being 'rushed'. We were not offered coffee with dessert. From the time we sat down until the time we left, it was about 70 minutes. A bit rushed. Obviously, they wanted to turn our table 4 or 5 time for the evening. I would recommend dining at IVY, though be prepared to underwhelmed. For a 'romantic' Valentine's dinner it wasn't very 'romantic'. The 'coolest' thing was the light-up menus!

Everything and everyone was amazing! Food was delicious! Started with a pizza then went on to pasta. Was even given dessert! Vito and his team was exceptional! We will definitely be back!

The Steaks and sides were exceptional. Service could have been better. We waited longer than normal to be greeted after being seated. Waited on water and drinks longer than expected. It wasn’t that busy there were open tables and no wait at the host stand. Other than that it was outstanding.

We have been here twice, and both times, the food & atmosphere were top notch. If you like green beans, their Tempura Green Beans with black sesame and plum sauce are incredible. And, on Thursday nights there is a small Jazz band in the bar, which is cozy too.
